I had seen lots of prong collar videos on u tube. Every video I watched from dog trainers recommended this Herm Sprenger brand prong collar for it's craftsmanship and quality of this product. Easy to put on too once you get the hang of it. They even emphasized how the rounded prong ends would not hurt your dog. I was a little skeptical that it would work for me as well as demonstrated from the professional dog trainers. I wanted to know exactly how to train my 40 pound dog using this collar. She was such a puller on the leash that my husband and I would cut our walks short. This collar is amazing! I fit it on her as instructed in the videos I had watched and ..... Here We Go.....I only gave a slight correction on the collar and wow I could hardly believe how my dog reacted with this collar on. It was not painful for her at all. She went right into heel position easily. A few light corrections along the way to let her know what I wanted and we were off on a super relaxing walk. Thanks Herm Springer for giving us and our dog the right training tool to walk our dog with confidence and comfort. Thanks Amazon for getting it to us a day ahead of the expected delivery date. I usually don't do many reviews but I want to let people know how this prong changed our walking routine.

Received as expected. Note: that it says 16 inch but in reality it fits a 13 inch neck once you give 2 inch for when the martingale tightens up. Combined two collars to get a great fit for our dogs 19 inch neck. I’d suggest getting the buckle if you have weak fingers for easy on and off. This collar in conjunction with Katie's Buckles works great for training my 51% GSD. I'm old (79) and have a little trouble manipulating things with my hands. I tried the one with a squeeze buckle but getting it connected was a pain...literally. You have to squeeze the alligator clip and pull the other end through a hole and then hook them together. Ok if you are young and have good dexterity.

Great collar

Before this collar, I was pulled to the ground when a rabbit appeared. I’m getting too old to be falling on concrete and hitting my head. A pop on the prong and she is back in control. Do use a strap to your flat collar as they can come undone. We never leave home without it.

With a young malinois - walking on a leash was a problem. All the positive reinforcements and all the training treats in the world were useless - we couldn’t even leave the court. (Ugh!) The second this this collar was on - it’s like someone switched the dog - she started to listen! I think two times she tried to pull, that was it. Today we did about 2mi LOOSE leash walk around our neighborhood. In all this time I think I did two gentle nudges that was it. And not only it was a loose leash walk, but it was almost perfect heal as well. And no smelling or grabbing geese poop or anything else from the ground. I guess the point is - Like any tool in the toolbox, prone collar needs to be used properly. Never ever ever do you want to use this for a punishment, only for gentle corrections to teach your friend how to behave properly. Oh yeah, it is very important to make sure that it has been fitted properly. Too small - you going to choke or injure your dog. To lose - it’s not going to work properly. For Sam and I this chain is good. The problem is that I had to make it for him. I had to buy two collars and then add links. The collars that were for his size neck were more like snow chains on a semi-truck and the links caused him pain because of their size. The "new" collars links are a good size for him, and he doesn't have pounds of metal wrapped around his neck.
