I hurt my back a few years back and what every back doctor told me is that it is very important for me not to sit my chair for a long time, but change between standing and sitting. Getting up and changing position is very important. I used a cardboard box to elevate my keyboard so I can mix standing and sitting, but the box was not very stable so I did not use it on consistent basis because it was wobbly and not very convenient. This table extension is very sturdy, does not wobble, and works well.This extension desk sits on top of any normal table. The table you see in the stock photos is not included, only the table extension itself is what you get. It adds about 1" inch to the height when folded flat and then it can be cranked to raise form 1" to 16" inches. The cranking mechanism is on the side, when you press it it raises the table. To lower the desk you need to press on the release handle and press the desk surface down.The extension is large but not huge - it is 28" long and 20" wide. In one of my photos you see a 13" laptop on top of it and there is room on both sides of it. The table extension is quite heavy, it weighs 27 pounds and it can holds 20 pounds. The raising mechanism is made out of metal and feels heavy duty. The desk itself is black. The bottom of the support is covered with foam, they prevent scratching the table the extension sits on.Overall the desk extension is sturdy and does not wobble. LOVE IT! This product is awesome. To be fair, I am starting to think that any standing platform option is good. But if you are looking to change your sitting desk into a standing option, make sure you buy a quality product. I've seen some adjustable standing options that had awful reviews and there's a reason why they were priced so cheap. On the other end of the spectrum, I saw the really high end ones that seemed like way too much money for what they do. I might as well buy a whole new desk for the money some of those high quality / high price options charge. I'm sure they're great, but this works fabulously.What I like is that this is a very simple design and operation, and it sits just fine on my desk. Make sure you can fit this the way you want! I have some shelves that are now useless when I am standing but I can take that hit because I never used them anyway. I also like that this didn't take any set up. All you need to do is put it on your desk and insert a stability rod and you're set. This is super heavy, just saying, but only when carrying the whole device, it is not too heavy to move up and down.The only thing I will say about this that you should be aware of, is that it can feel a smidge wobbly when in the highest position, but that makes sense and it is not a hindrance. I am an excessive, quick, angry typist so I notice it, but other people might not.The hardest part of this product was clearing the junk off my desk that I needed to clean anyway. If you are looking to start standing at your desk and you don't want to buy the $500 options, or don't have room on your existing desk for them, definitely get the X-Elite Pro.

I love this product! I have seen similar standing desks over the last 15 years of my working life and wondered why people wanted or needed to stand on their feet at work. But after a recent total knee replacement, I finally figured out that for the last 22 years of my career my back was in pain the end of a 10 hour work day from sitting in regular or super adjustable ergo dynamic desk chairs. I needed the option to stand on my feet for 2 to 3 hours a day to keep getting this done and feel better.I finally decided to purchase this desk - with my own money (not from my employer) and it has drastically reduced or eliminated the pain in my back at the end of a long work day! I only wish this product was around 22 years ago when I started my career as a Civil Engineer.My current Stand Steady desk functions as a computer platform which position my computer - monitor, monitor stand, laptop docking station, laptop, full size keyboard and mouse (including mouse pad) - at the perfect elevation to stand or sit during the work day.I will be ordering another Stand Steady desk soon to function as a variable standing or sitting platform to complete the many old fashioned paper tasks required for my job - manual drafting/sketching; doing technical calculations via pencil, paper, and calculator; reviewing 11" x 17", 22" x 34", or 24" x 36" technical drawings; and reading very large and heavy code books, reports, and construction contract documents.Highly recommend! The desk was delivered ahead of schedule in perfect condition. The design is brilliant, the build quality is 5 star, and it's operation is flawless.
