Impressive humbucker sound
I used this to replace the pickguard on a cheap Starcaster I pulled out of the garbage. I've played for years and I've also built guitars for over a decade, so I was of the opinion that no guitar belongs in the garbage. After working on that Starcaster, I no longer have that opinion. I'll never waste my time on a Starcaster again, as the factory that produced them must have saved a fortune on eliminating quality control and operators that know how to set up and maintain equipment. Anyway, after dumping a ridiculous amount of time into a guitar that's still only worth about a hundred bucks, I wasn't about to waste any more time messing with electronics. This pickguard was exactly what I was looking for - it was cheap and it installed in minutes. I personally don't think the single coil pickups are bright enough - they have all the muddyness of a humbucker, with all the noise of a single coil. I won't deduct a star though, because they are exactly what I was expecting them to be. HOWEVER, the humbucker on this thing sounds amazing for this price point. It has enough crunch to make a Marshall scream, and it still sings nicely on a tweed amplifier. Is this a suitable replacement for a player series strat? Absolutely not. At best, it'll almost keep up with the higher end Squire pickups. But, I wouldn't hesitate to install this as a legitimate upgrade for Bullet series Squires and bargain "S-Style" guitars.

Nice fit and finish and sounds really good.
This is a nice prewired pickguard. The output is really good and it really cranks and sounds really good. Very nice humbucker. Easy to install especially if you buy a Switchcraft jack on Amazon with the soldering already done. Just connect white to white, black to black and the ground and you’re good to go. Very nice finish as well. Would recommend and buy again.

You can't be afraid to drill or dremel your baby
Really can't beat the price for what you get. Keep expectations a little low, and you'll be pleased. The Good: -Can tweak the so-so pickup tones via your amp to get acceptable sounds. -Good volume output from all the pickups -Smooth turning knobs, solid feeling selector switch -On a 2016 MIM Deluxe the screw holes lined up perfectly. No drilling needed for alignment -Looks good, especially from a distance -Delivery was quick. Got it in a day. -If you have rudimentary soldering skills, you can get the job done yourself. The Bad: -Everything is cheaply made. Ply is thin, knobs feel light, wiring and pots are small, thin. - You will likely have to drill or dremel SOMETHING. - Humbucker gets lopsided easily. Not a huge deal for me, but might be for someone else -Humbucker height screws were way too long. Luckily, I have plenty of spares. -I STILL had to drill out some space for the Humbucker height screws to be able to sit the pickguard flat against the body. Your mileage may vary. Overall, I'm satisfied with what I paid for. It'll get the job done. Tweak your amp and you can get decent Strat-ty sounds. Be prepared to drill or dremel. Have some spare parts (like screws, springs, and such....little things). Musiclily has some good, affordable stuff. The only downside is; it's China. Would rather buy from another country of origin, but it's what I can afford right now. I'm a gigging musician, so if something goes south, I'll update this review.

Amazing sound for the money!
This is way better than you expect it to be! I used to be an absolute pickup snob! I would not play anything besides Seymour Duncan. These are really great sounding pickups. My neck and middle were around 7k ohms and the bridge was 14k. Clear and articulate and the bridge can get rowdy if you crank up the gain. My only suggestion is to make sure you adjust the pickup heights to balance the sound.

Cheap and effective. Nice tortoiseshell, too.
I got this to put in a guitar for my nephew's birthday. Is it Fender Custom Shop level of quality and parts? Obviously not. It's also not Fender Custom Shop price. The tortoise guard is actually a lot nicer than Fender's though, in my opinion. At least the ones Fender has been making... It was an easy install. Dropped right into a Squier Affinity Strat. Soldered the jack. Boom. Works. Can't complain.

DOES NOT FIT FENDER SQUIER STRAT!
The screw hole spacing on this pickguard does not match those of my Fender Squier Strat. I don't know it the spacing is fit for Fender (non-Squier) Strats, but the title of this item is completely misleading. I'm still able to use this pickguard, since I'm only using it as a placeholder to figure out which pickups I want to use in my next Strat, and I've managed to get it mounted to the guitar with only 4-5 of the screws inserted. The output of neck and middle pickups are very mismatched to the humbucker in the bridge. The electronics are trash, but that's to be expected for the price. I installed this pickguard with a hot-swap connector so I can switch it out easily with the stock SSS pickguard. If you're looking for a dirt-cheap loaded pickguard for experimenting as in my case, this will work well for you, but if you're looking for a quality pickguard (with Squire hole spacing) with an HSS route, you'd best look elsewhere.

Great replacement for an ancient college Strat knock off
Recently stripped my old college guitar (Epi S-300) and replaced it's muddy SSS pickups and worn out 5-way with this HSS pickguard. 100% improvement in tone and function. Note that the bridge humbucker isn't tone controlled like the single coil was on my original (which shared tone knob with middle PU). So, one tone for middle single coil and one for the neck PU. That said, I love having the humbucker in the bridge for high gain and can control tone from the amp. The two single coils sound awesome and I use them the most for my style of play. No noise from the controls. Had to drill mostly new mounting holes, but that was expected going in and no issue at all. Recommended.

I bought this loaded pickguard because my HSS Strat's humbucker worked intermittently and I couldn't diagnose the problem. I figured it was cheaper and easier just to replace all of the pickups with this kit. The installation was very easy and the only issue I had was the screw holes not completely lining up. I found out it's because my guitar is made in Japan and it's different from Mexican/American Strats. I still made it work however. The new pickups sound better to my ears. I find myself using all 5 of the switch positions, when I only used 3 at most on the originals. The humbucker can't be split or adjusted with the tone knob, but I didn't use that much on the old pickup to begin with. Overall, a great value.
