It Works!
Like others who have had the original LaCie supply go on the fritz I purchased this T-Power AC adapter to hopefully bring my LaCie back to life and I am overjoyed that it works as expected. After testing that I could power the LaCie on and off with the T-Power I then connected the LaCie to my network and joy of joys, the files are all there and accessible. I had saved much data to the LaCie from a computer that recently went to the land of dead-PCs and I was dismayed that the LaCie would not start with its original supply. The disk made soft clicking noises like it was trying to start, but no-go. I measured the power output from the supply and had +6v on the 5v and 12v pins......not as it should be. The T-Power has done the job and I am now a happy nerd. The files I thought lost are now in use on a different computer. I just hope the T-Power lasts longer than the original adapter did.

I experienced a power surge at my home and afterwards plugged in my older Lacie external HD and it wouldn't boot up. And before I spent money on a pricey data recovery service, I did the first thing the tech guys always say. Replace the adapter power pack. After checking locally with no luck, I finally decided to search Amazon and I found this one that was the same model number as my old pack, but no listing it would work with my model Lacie. So, I went on and took a chance and bravo, it worked perfectly. So far so good and what a relief.

Low current limitation
Unfortunately while I carefully considered the plug fittings before purchase, I didn’t note the low current limitation and therefore this does not power my LaCie

My LaCie external hard drive went down and I was ...
My LaCie external hard drive went down and I was panicked... I have all of our family photos and movies on it as well as my work files for the past 7 years. I was looking online at data recovery companies (which costs an arm and a leg) when I was lucky enough to stumble on a forum where someone said simply replacing the power cord got their LaCie working again... so I gave it a shot and the new cord has my LaCie up and running perfectly! I am SO relieved to have access to my files again, plus it saved me a ton of hassle and money.

This adapter soved a problem for me
I lost the AC adapter for an older OWC dual bay enclosure. This one works perfectly.
