Can you put your hand through the water streams? (or does the water return via tubes hidden by the water?)

There are no hidden tubes, the water falls from the top to the reservoir then recycles to the top. So yes, you can run your hand through. - The Lamps Plus Team

Not hard to clean at all. But, I quit using it as a fountain but more of a knickknack.
