This is not inexpensive, but then it’s not for filling up planters. What it is perfect for is the top dressing layer that makes contact with lichen or moss. For moss it is useful to wet the mix and “paste” it into the voids some mosses develop (especially if partly dry) before pressing the whole of the moss into the dampened dressing layer. Use a different mix for regular plants or ferns...perhaps in a peat pot isolated from mosses and lichen.
