Pretty groovy
First off, I didn't realize that these were made to go with the ipad. The only reason I bought them is because my kids love angry birds, they are adorable, and they were off 70%!!!!!!! Now, these work with the Ipad great. Very cool. I don't like to purchase anything to go with Ipad because it has been proven that using the ipad lets out radiation and it's not good to hold close. Another words, less time on the Ipad is better for everyone and this is for the Ipad. With that said, these are really neat toys. They are cool Ipad toys and super cool play toys. The kids use them with blocks, building towers to destroy, just like the game. Very fun!

Great product & Great idea....reasonable & affordable as well...Kudos to the Rovio Co.
This was a gift for my 8 year old son, who made the honor roll at his school. I got it for him for his hard work and effort in school. He has loved Angry Birds eversince his dad introduced the game to him. He has just about everything they make. The feature on this item that I like is that it can interact with the ipad device. This makes the toy even more engaging and keeps him busy hours on end. This item is a great product and great idea. The price is reasonable and affordable as well. Kudos to the Rovio Co.

Have to use a flashlight
My 9 year old son got an Amazon gift card for his birthday and this was one of the things he wanted to get with it. He loves the Angry Birds Star Wars game. I checked to make sure it would work with our Kindle Fire HD before buying it. When we got it we followed the directions but it didn't work so I took a closer look. The characters have a QR code on the bottom and the base they sit on is a spacer to put the character at the right distance that the camera can read the code when you activate the camera with the telepod button in the game. For some reason the camera wasn't reading the code so I put the Kindle in camera mode like I was going to take a picture so I could see what the camera was seeing and it was just a shadow. We tried shining a flashlight up the base to the bottom of the character to light up the code. The camera had no problem reading the code after that. Its a bit of a pain having to use the flashlight each time but my son only cares that it works. He thinks its cool that he can pick whichever character he wants to help him out and has decided that he likes it so much he wants more characters. I think that there were only 2 characters in this set he hadn't already come across in the game but I'm sure he will eventually. I would like it better myself if some of the characters were exclusive to the telepod feature but I didn't get them for me and he was really happy he spent his birthday money on them so I guess that is all that really matters.

More Rovio Merchandising (and a Hint if you're having problems)
I love Angry Birds, and I especially love Angry Birds Star Wars! Even though I have much more respect for the original trilogy than the newer one, Angry Birds Star Wars II is as fun as the first game and even more graphically detailed! So in anticipation of the new game, I bought this set of 6 telepod characters to use with it. I ended up with mixed feelings towards this set. Let's talk about their use within the game first. These telepod characters are NOT needed for the game. They don't unlock secret levels (that I know of) and just could make some levels easier. What they are used for is to substitute the character you have in the sling shot for one of the telepod characters. Each character can only be used once per level, but as far as I can tell you only need to teleport each character once (during a SINGLE game play period - unfortunately, once you close the game, you have to transfer your characters via telepod all over again, limiting the number of times you probably will want to do this and the usefulness of this product). Once they are in the game during a single play session, they are available for every level. There are also other birds available and that you can buy in game, but these usually have limited number of times they can be used (even if you fail the level). This set includes 3 "good guy" characters and 3 "pork side" characters. As far as I can tell, each set can only be used with the appropriate side. So if you're playing a "pork side" level, you can only use the 3 Sith characters. Likewise with the good side of the Force. There's a little symbol at the top (it's either the rebel symbol or something looking like a pig snout depending on what side you're playing) that you click on to substitute your telepod character in the game. Let me give you a Big Hint if you're having problems getting your birds/pigs into the game: LIGHT! As Rovio explains, you place the character on the clear plastic telepod. There's a notch under the character that has to fit into the telepod the right way. There's a little QC code on the bottom of the character, and the telepod itself magnifies the code for your camera to read. (I have a Nexus 7 Android tablet, by the way.) After securing the character on its post, you place the clear telepod/character combo over the lens of your tablet's camera. Then you press the button at the top of the game screen that looks like a "T" over a circle. STAY ON the screen that pops up until your character is in the game. Pressing "X" closes the screen (and I assume turns off the camera). Pressing "?" takes you to a website that is not at all helpful, but iterates the telepodding info again. I got 4 of the characters in pretty easily (again, you can only telepod the good side characters into the good side force levels and the pig characters into the pork side levels, so I had to wait until I unlocked the pork side to use those 3 characters). I had a little trouble with General Grievous but finally got him in. That left Yoda. I just could not get him in the game. Then it occurred to me. I was sitting in a room that wasn't lit well. I then turned on a light and tried again. But you don't want to shine light into the camera; you want to shine it on the QC code that is on the BOTTOM of the character and pointing downwards. So what I did was hold the telepod in place and turn the tablet/telepod combo slightly upside down and over a light source so the QC code would get illuminated. And Voila!, it worked! So my advice to everyone having problems it to use lots of LIGHT and get it shining on the QC code. So, as I mentioned before, you have to keep doing this EVERYTIME you start a new play season. I don't know why Rovio allows this as it's extremely annoying. So the only other use the characters are for is for a TOY. Fortunately, I have a 6 year old (though I could just as easily be sitting these characters across the top of my computer monitor). The characters are SMALL! They are about the size of novelty pencil erasers. They seem durable enough except most of the characters have little light sabers that stick out. I'm wondering how long it would take for those to tear off. Also, keep these guys AWAY from pets and children under 3. They are the right size for swallowing. I would give this product 2 stars, but I like Angry Birds and Star Wars so much and added another star.
