Deliciously sublime
I could not love this stuff more! This soap smells amazing, even better than their original lavender castile soap; the lavender fragrance is somehow deeper and more complex. The consistency is very creamy, the lather luxurious. The lather is even fabulous when I put it in a foaming soap dispenser at a ratio of 1:5 with water. It is just yummy! I am a longtime fan of Dr. Bronner's original castile soap, which I've been using almost exclusively since college (and we will not talk about how long ago that was!). I discovered this soap while I was searching for something gentle, non-drying, and natural for the super-sensitive skin of the 93-year-old lady I was working for. She needed something for hand-washing at her kitchen and bathroom sinks, but she'd tried Dr. B's castile soap and wanted something more moisturizing. I had never used this sugar soap, had never even heard of it until I found it on the shelf at my local natural grocery store, but I got her a bottle of it to try. She she went crazy for it! Meanwhile, I was using it every day while I was at her house -- and needless to say, I fell in love with it, too! A couple of years later, that same lady I worked for asked me about body wash, because she was unhappy with whatever what she'd been using. I reminded her that this soap is a hand *and body* soap (and showed her the label to reassure her). I think she was skeptical, but she really liked using it in the shower, too! I know for a fact that she's used nothing but the sugar soap for hand-washing since then, and I'm pretty sure she's never tried anything else as a body wash. I had originally used the shikakai hand and body soap that the sugar soap replaced, so I was a little apprehensive about this "sugar" version, but honestly, I couldn't tell a difference between the two. I'm still a huge fan -- and I sound like a walking advertisement for Dr. B's! Sometimes I find Dr. B's original castile soap to be a tad too harsh for hand soap (I know! Sacrilege!), because the skin on my hands is SO much more more sensitive than anywhere else, especially when I'm having a bad flare-up of eczema. So I've replaced it at all the sinks in my house with the sugar soap. I have kind of a problem with too much hand-washing, but the only side-effect of this is going through so many towels! Under "normal" circumstances, this soap doesn't dry out or irritate my hands at all; it actually feels moisturizing, and my hands feel soft afterwards. Even when my eczema is really bad and everything hurts, this is much less irritating than anything else. I've only tried two "flavors" of this, lavender and lemongrass-lime, but I imagine the others are just as awesome. I'm a huge fan of their original peppermint castile soap from way back, and later became completely addicted to the lavender. The lavender sugar soap is just as addicting, if not more so! I have some in my bathroom and guest bath, and the lemongrass-lime is at my kitchen sink. I would like to try some of the peppermint the next time I need to "reload" -- if I can tear myself away from the lemongrass-lime and lavender!

Dr. Bronner Forever
How did I not know about this company and its products sooner? It smells so good and it feels so good after using it. You can feel the difference from this versus store bought garbage. Never ever going back or settling for anything else now. Natural is the way. I made a big lifestyle change after discovering the EWG Skin Catalogue after discovering how much cosmetics i use that are very toxic. I've replaced EVERYTHING with only stuff i've found on there (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, the list goes on). You'll thank me later when you do! Last note, and this will sound crazy. I accidentally got some of this soap in my mouth. And it taste good (Please Do not purposely ingest this). It really is natural soap, sweet sweet good natural soap.

A guy with medium length hair's perspective
Probably one of the few guys (with medium length hair) who uses Dr. Bronner's products... so here goes: Pros: -Dr. Bronner's is an INCREDIBLE company. Environmentally, socially, financially responsible through and through. Legit fair trade, seriously organic, no one gets paid more than 5 times another (amazing considering that most CEOs nowadays make hundreds times what their factory floor workers do), employees get 100% free healthcare, and they give like a third of their profits back to charity (beyond their free trade projects, which, among other things, support peaceful Palestinian/Israeli coexistence and medical equipment for hospitals in Sri Lanka). If corporations were actually people, Dr. Bronner's would be Gandhi (and I should know, I'm Indian :P) -I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair! So soft, so shiny (not greasy though), so healthy and strong...Not only that, but after using this and the conditioning rinse and leave-in conditioner, I can just run my hands through my hair to style it almost any which way I please! Do you know how much time that saves me in the morning? Now I don't feel so guilty when pressing snooze 3x. -Love the strong smell of the soap when showering :) ahhh...tea tree...peppermint...so refreshing Cons -still experimenting on how much/little to use of each product. Right now, might be using too much shampoo, because hair becomes parched if I don't use the leave-in conditioner. -Price. Originally used the soap on body too, but after not seeing a noticeable difference over my Dove bar, decided to save it for just the hair. -Though the soap smells wonderful, it doesn't last on your hair (like my hair doesn't smell like peppermint or tea trees--do those actually exist?? I thought tea leaves grow in bushes). Anyways... I suspect my hair actually smells a bit more like some oil (for all my desi folks out there, kinda like Ayurvedic medicine). I say "suspect" because I don't smell it on a day to day basis, and no one has told me my hair stinks, but if I am hot and/or sweaty, sometimes I smell it. -for the citrus conditioning rinse, be careful, because it really stings if you get it in your eyes or on open cuts. Also, the smell of citrus and whatever oils they use is, frankly, nauseating in the shower.***SEE UPDATE BELOW*** Citrus and that oil smell do not mix Dr. Bronner, nuh uh, not at all. Also, not a fan of having to dilute the rinse on my own before use. First world problems, I know, but I'd appreciate it if it came pre-diluted, and preferably at the same consistency as the soap (instead of having the viscosity of water, which is harder to work through your hair). Sorry for the novella. TL;DR: love the company and the results, not such a big fan of the price or the slight oily smell--but that's what you get for all-natural. Also, for guys, cut back ALOT on what they tell you to use. Peace! ~A Dr. Bronner's lifetime customer P.s. If you're interested in more socially responsible products, check out the Good Guide app (here's the Apple link:[...] UPDATE: Finally figured out how much to use: half a "pump" of shikakai soap/shampoo, 1/4 cap of the conditioning rinse (+ 1 cup water) and probably 1/8 to 1/4 a "pump" of the leave-in conditioner. When you dilute the citrus conditioning rinse, it doesn't smell nearly as bad as before, you only smell the citrus :)

Great organic peppermint soap that’s leaves your hands fresh.
Dr. Bronners organic sugar soap is really good. We use to use Mrs Mira soap but find this soap much better and it leaves an amazing peppermint smell on your hands as well as them feeling soft and clean. Would highly recommend. High quality soap in my opinion.

Not sure what happened here, but a friend of mine has this soap and it smells amazing.... Got mine and was so excited to try it, but to my surprise it smelt really strong like fish oil.... Normally I love the brand and have bought other products from them, don't think I will buy this one in particular again.

I love how this doesn’t dry out my hands as much as other hand soaps do! The lather is awesome and the light lavender scent is not too overwhelming. I keep buying them. A little pricy but they last.
