Adafruit FadeCandy - Dithering USB-Controlled Driver for RGB NeoPixels [ADA1689]

Just started playing around and this thing works as promised. Don't know how to create a stand alone project as I'm only familiar with the Arduino platform but I'm confident that some genius will figure it out for the rest of us.

Looks like a great project and device.... until you attempt to use thier processing program to program the device which never works because it can never find all of the libraries it needs and then it just missing this missing that. This is garbage. here let me help you.1. If you are going to office example programs make sure you include everything needed to run it. No one likes doing all this work only to find out the program you wanted to use to see how well it worked just throws error after error becuase fadecandy can not be bothered to update thier examples and libraries and program. I bought 2 of these one I can no longer return. The 2nd not going to bother with a company that can't keep current with their website.

Was brought to replace an older unit that used batteries.This being rechargeable makes the unit much smaller than the old one, it is also a much nicer looking modern unit .Works well and is simple to set up and use

Well what can i say to those of you interested in purchasing a FadeCandy. personally I like gadgets, And this is a fool proof device. Wire up a few LEDs and fire up some software and away you go, light show fantastic. The FadeCandy does a good job of dithering LEDs, But that is all it does. where as the Arduino could be a better option for some as it does more than light LEDs. Well i love it for what it is, a great little device with a tiny tiny foot print and ease of use.

Excellent little device. Need to carefully read all the online documentation as it come without any. Limited to 64 pixels per (8 off) output connectors. I wanted to run 3 x 50 so had to do some unexpected wiring to make it work the way I wanted it to work - but that's because I didn't read all the online documentation first!

The FadCandy controller is a fairly easy way to connect NeoPixel strips directly to a computer (Desktop/Laptop/Raspberry Pi) without having to use a microcontroller board like an Arduino in between. With the added advantage of giving better colour rendering, and easy programmability via the Processing language. Sample sketches are available with the drivers to get you up and running (download from https://github.com/scanlime/fadecandy/)A little tricky to get running out of the box if you are new to this sort of thing, but don't let that put you off.
