Calphalon Contemporary Hard-Anodized Aluminum Nonstick Cookware, Shallow Sauce Pan, 2 1/2-quart, Black

This is easily the best sauce pan I've ever owned. It's also the first Calphalon and definitely not the last. It's seemed a bit heavy at first, but after using it a few times I came to realize the weight (see the product specs which are accurate) is a good thing when cooking. Even heating when cooking sauces or anything for that matter. I use it a lot for pastas and homemade soups like chili. It's large enough to be very versatile in cooking applications.The non stick surface is great and appears to be thickly coated, but time will tell how long it wears. The lid is a medium weight glass and the top handle is riveted onto the glass so it will never loosen or need tightening. Same with the very sturdy pot handle, which is also a very nice length. And the straining feature is really great, most of the time eliminating the need to use a colander or other strainer. And if not used for straining, take the lid off and soups or other liquids pour easily from the spout on either side of the pan. This is a very well designed pan.I'm going to begin the replacement process of other pans that I've bought that were cheaper and flimsy and light weight. You get what you pay for, and this in my opinion is a moderately priced pan well worth the money.

The last thing in the world I need is another Calphalon pan but I couldn't help myself. Even though I am right-handed (or am I?), I always hold the pan in my left hand to pour. Well, that presents a problem when the spout is on the opposite side of the pan, specifically the little Calphalon butter warmer which I rarely use because of that very flaw. This much bigger pan with a wonderful lid with air holes, allows you to pour and drain without losing any food. I absolutely love it. The size is close to ideal for just about everything. I had to have it so I just moved an old 4-qt pan else where to make room for this one.Update 4-15-14: The lid also fits on a 3-qt Calphalon Contemporary Pot that I have. Love it!Update 4-3-15: And it's dishwasher safe. I've just used it - again - and again- I had to come back and check to make sure it's safe to put in dishwasher (some newer are and the older ones are not).

When seeking a non-stick saucepan, I decided on the Calphalon, and then at the last minute, I chose this 2.5 quart "shallow" version rather than the standard version. Best buying decision of 2019. Their choice to use the word "shallow" to describe misses the point--- I would say deep and broad saucepan. I cook sauces-- fantastic for roux and white sauces and cooking onions and/or browning anything for tomato sauces in the pan. Also, great for beans and potatoes, even stocks and soup. It is the most used pan in my kitchen. I would use "versatile" but sometimes versatile can mean "pretty good" for many things. This one is "excellent" for many things. GREAT PRICE! Used regularly for over a year now-- looks new and still love it.

These are the absolute best pans on the market! They beat all the known brand names and celebrity chef pans hands down. Even heat, high quality, dishwasher safe, truly non stick, solid construction handles..they are the best. AND a lifetime guarantee. Following the proper care guidelines, they will last a lifetime. Easy to cook in, easy to clean up and wonderful to use. What could be better. Sure, you can find cheaper pans..but that is exactly what you will end up with. I recommend them highly. You won't regret your purchase. I have the 3.5 quart sauce pan, two of the 2.5 quart saucepans, a 4 quart soup pot and the Calphalon unison grill pan and love cooking with all of them!

Love these pots. Useful size, well made, slick interior. I bought it as a replacement for one that had lost its nonstick coating because I used it every day for a long time . The pot I replaced was bought almost 30 years ago as part of a set, and if you don't have any of these pots (Calphalon) the price per item is better if you buy a set, but after 30 years I only needed this one and one other. It would have still worked, just lost the nonstick after years of use. Maybe now the non stick will last another 30 years! That will be longer than I will be cooking.

I've had nothing but garbage nonstick cookware all my adult life. I'm done with it. This pot is the best nonstick pot I've used. It's thick and well made.I only hand wash my dishes so I can't tell you if your dishwasher will harm it. I CAN tell you that it cleans up so easily that I can't imagine ever needing to use a dishwasher to wash it. I've owned it for two months and used it thirty times. Not a scratch on it inside or out. Other nonstick cookware I've used would be peeling or scratching by now. I'm very pleased with this purchase. You will be, too

Wow, these are the pans I've always wanted. Clearly a step up from light weight non-stick cookware. I now have a full set, each pan convincing me to get the next. A pleasure to cook with, easy to clean, with lids that perform far better than normal one feature designs. Steam, waterless, venting, so many options so simply designed. I don't even put the pans in the dishwasher... they clean so fast and completely in a minute it's not worth the space in the machine. Rinse them out, a quick dry towel, and they're back on the stove or in the cupboards.

El material de la olla es grueso al igual que el inserto de vaporera que trae.Creía que la vaporera era mas pequeña, me lleve una sorpresa porque es todo lo contrario es grande, lo que permite cocinar mayor cantidad de alimentos y al igual que la vaporera, es super amplia.Lo que recomiendo siempre es seguir los cuidadoz que viene en la caja para que duren este producto, ya tengo un batería de la linea contemporary de CALPHALON y son muy buena y no se me han rallado en estos ultimos 9 meses. son geniales.

I've tried a lot of non-stick cookware trying to find products which live up to the hype. Calphalon does it. Yes, it's more expensive, but when I think of all the non-stick cookware I've had to ditch after far too short a time, it is so worth it. Saving up now for a full set!
