Umarex Makes ANOTHER Winner...
I decided to get this pistol based on a couple things:1) I really LIKED the S&W M&P when Umarex made that one a few years back.2) The PRICE was just TOO GOOD to pass up.Call it A WIN...on BOTH counts.The XBG pistol is CO2-powered with a similar magazine as the M&P, holding approx. 18 rounds of steel BBs. And the magazine drops free easily with a button located on the left side near the trigger guard.A manual safety is located in a smiliar manner to the M&P - right side on the body of the pistol above the trigger guard.The LOOK of the pistol is intriguing as well...like someone went and married a Walther PPQ to a Springfield Armory XD Compact...(I now pronounce you "well-designed"...lol)It's a bit on the light side, weight-wise, but still feels ergonomically comfortable in hand. The textured ABS plastic gives it a rugged feel as well.Feeding this puppy is a snap.A hinged door on the backstrap lifts up to allow access to the cartridge for a quick swap, and a screw nestled under the grip allows easy removal or insertion of the CO2 powerlets.The REAL fun comes when you start sending BBs down-range.The package claims 410 FPS velocity, and I can easily believe it.It will tear through any can like it's paper (at 15 feet), and I must have gotten slightly OVER ten mags before the pressure dropped off markedly.And like ALL my BB pistols, I always add a drop of pellgun oil on top of the cartridge before insertion to keep the seal from drying out.That practice hasn't failed yet.The XBG IS a joy to fire and is a REAL HONEST pistol, considering the sights are fixed front and rear. It WILL hit what you aim it at.Getting used to only ONE dot on the front blade took a couple rounds to get used to.Would be nice to have a THREE-DOT pattern, or even a Heine "straight-eight", but it's not a big deal.The trigger pull for this DAO is long (as can be expected), but not overly hard, and breaks easy.It's a real shame it doesn't have blowback!Overall, you just can't beat the Umarex XBG when it comes to COST...and accuracy...and FUN!I'd recommend this pistol to kids of ANY age.Umarex is getting good at making affordable BB pistols fun again.Shoot straight and practice safety.

Excellent Value, Max power in its class
It's a simply built weapon and make no mistake, at close range it could be lethal. Treat it as you would any gun. I use it for casual target practice at 25 yds or so. I recommend using the UMarex black BB's as they seem to jam less than Copperheads from Crossman. My only issue is the magazine which is not a really well built and tends to jam. To clear it you need to drop the mag and a jammed BB will drop out.Overall, Not a big plastic fan, but necessary to keep the price down. Where it counts it's metal. At a rating of 410fps you might want to consider it for home defense if you don't want to go to the extra step and hassle of an actual firearm and the potential liability that goes with it. Good for beginners and training young shooters as well.

Nice to have
This is what I pick up as I walk out the door to head outside. I live in the country and we have numerous uninvited guests and this helps deter most of them. Great value, built well, and used frequently.

Above and Beyond My Expectations
I had not used an air gun since I was a kid and my grandfather had a Daisy BB gun he would let me shoot in the backyard and I'd make my own targets on blank paper, creating my own imaginary enemies to defeat. I always enjoyed going there to shoot that gun and it's a fond memory from my childhood. I don't know why I decided to purchase an air gun now in my mid-20's, but let me say I was blown away with what I got for my money with this particular Air Pistol.The Umarex XBG has gone above and beyond my expectations since purchasing it over a month ago and using it almost daily. It has a realistic look to it and can easily be mistaken for a real gun if it is dark or if you're not close enough to see the detail. I've actually had friends who thought it was real as I held it in my hand and showed it to them, obviously these aren't exactly people with much if any firearm training but still, the point is it LOOKS nice.As for how it shoots, I have not been disappointed at all. It is pretty accurate, and shoots somewhere around 400 fps. It can easily injure someone or worse if not used carefully. I've been shot with it in the small of the back on a near-empty CO2 cartridge and it hurt bad enough I fell to my knees and had to clench my teeth in pain (though I was shot from no more than 3 feet away). I would suggest getting some extra magazines for this gun if you decide to buy it. It is not time-consuming to load by any means, but it does cut back on reloading time significantly with an extra pair of metal magazines (which can be bought either here on Amazon or at your local Wal-Mart).I love the fact that there is a button to release the magazine and the location of the safety is perfectly placed for a right-handed person to easily change on and off using your trigger finger. My ONLY complaint after a month of near daily use of this gun is the trigger pull. I wouldn't say that it's HARD to pull the trigger, but the gun would be more accurate if the trigger pull were a little more loose. Every time I shoot it I have to pull it back to a point where more exertion is needed to actually FIRE the gun and this can occasionally cause my hand to move slightly. This is only a problem when firing it one-handed however, so considering most of the time I use both hands it doesn't become a problem.Overall I would say DEFINITELY buy this gun if you are looking for a cheap but reliable and exciting air pistol. There are some other air pistols on Amazon and other sites that go for between $10-$40 more than the Umarex XBG and really have no noticeable extra improvements, often just bigger names. I'd recommend this for just about anyone who enjoys air guns and wants something cheap that shoots like a gun that shoots like a gun 2 to 3 times its price;
