Love It
I have never been much into writing, but this is fun. Idk, it's just nice. I use a Rhodia notebook and anything with Tomoe River Paper. But most other paper is good too. The pen with cap on is good for my big hand. The color is nice and the animal stripes are fun.

You can get better than this for the money
Arguably the best entry level fountain pen you can buy.It comes with an ink cartridge and Pilot's squeeze converter. Do yourself a favor and buy their turn button converter and a bottle of ink. Or just get an ink syringe and refill the ink cartridge when it runs out.The pen is made out of brass and is painted. The white version of this pen has a much thicker layer of paint than all the others. It feels like it's enameled. The section of the pen is made out of plastic. It is not too small and not too big. It has some weight to it, but it's not overly heavy like a lot of metal fountain pens. It has a cap that clicks on. It works great in situations when you just need to grab a pen and write with it quickly. The nib comes in either fine or medium. They are both on the fine side, as is common with Japanese nibs. I would recommend starting with a medium nib and going to the fine later if that is too thick. Unless you like very thin writing a medium should be great for you.So, what are the downsides? Well, there really aren't any other than this being a pen you first start out with. After you really like this and get into fountain pens you'll want bigger pens, pens made out of different materials, different sizes and shapes, gold nibs, exotic filling systems, etc.Until then, and even during, this will be your go to pen.

Great pen, tricky setup
This pen is amazing! Writes smoothly, looks sleek, and isn't too expensive. Also makes for a great gift. If you're looking for a first fountain pen look no further. However something to note is that this thing runs through ink quick if you write as much as I do (school class work and homework). An ink cartridge will maybe last 4-5 days, but it's definitely not anything bad about the pen that's just how fountain pens work. Just wanted to let those know who think the pen would last any longer. If you're buying this, buy a pack of cartridges (must be from Pilot or it won't work).Something to note is when you first get your own you're probably wondering what to do with it. The instructions aren't clear at all. So, to get started you have to open the pen, and unscrew the part where the black handle meets the shaft of the pen. After that you'll be greeted by some soft material. Pull that out by squeezing the metal and pulling. Insert the ink cartridge and press down until you hear a pop, or until the ink suddenly shifts lower. After that give the cartridge a nice squeeze and you're good to go.

I don't know how Pilot does this.
I don't know how Pilot does this for the price. I don't have any expensive fountain pens (or any expensive pen for that matter), so perhaps I just don't know any better. But this line of pens sure seems to be of a quality far above the price point. It's got to be an automated assembly line that keeps the price down. I have about a dozen of these that I rotate out at random. Every single one of them is perfect. Not a dud in the whole bunch. I enjoy trying different brands and colors of ink and these pens make for a high quality experience. Five stars up one side and down the other.

Smooth, great fountain pen with perfect weight for writers
I wouldn't change one thing about this pen. This was my introductory fountain pen (I have calligraphy pens or non-cartridge fountain pens) and I love love this. The weight is perfect for the person who likes to write and FEEL like they are writing. This has such a nostalgic feel to it with the modern day ink cartridge that can easily be changed out. I love the sound of the tip on my paper as I am writing and the right pen has the right feel to it. Way to go Pilot! Now a couple things about fountain pens to be aware of if this is your first ever cartridge pen. Tips break if you drop the pen on it's tip. I haven't broke one yet but I have on calligraphy pens and feather fountain pen , these tips are made of the same composite. So be gentle with your pen. Also, don't store tip down, the ink will leak and it makes for a mess not just on the base but in the cap. I like to put the cap on the end of the pen to affirm a nice weight while writing but an ink filled cap makes for a messing pen end then fingers. Best to store tip up. Otherwise, have fun with how it feels and it's smooth writing.

Converter doesn't work well
Converter doesn't work well and it leaks inside the pen creates a real mess. No manufacturer support. There are a lot of better pens out there.

Writes sooo smoothly but the barrel-grip step-down is inconvenient
I got the white with the tiger stripe pattern. I bought this pen bc my wrist, arm and shoulder were starting to hurt to the point where I stopped journaling and with a fountain pen bc you don't need to bear down to write. The infamous medium nib writes supremely smooth--very effortless with no scratchiness even on cheap binder paper--I think this is the smoothest pen I've ever written with (I've never tried fountain pens, but this little one beats out all my gel pens). My pen came with instructions on how to insert the included cartridge (another reviewer complained that theirs did not--but mine did). Using their ink cartridge, there is no bleed-through on cheap binder paper and no skipping. One caveat: the spot where I like to grip this pen is inconvenient to hold: The barrel steps down sharply into the grip at this point (check out the photo--the barrel ends at the white tiger pattern and steps down into the grip. If you tend to hold fountain pens farther or closer from the nib than I do, then I definitely recommend this as a starter pen for note-taking or journaling. If you hold where I do, people recommend the Pilot Prera as an alternative. I will purchase that one next.

Good, but
A nice pen, but in mine the ink dries out very quickly. I don't know if this one is not a good one or if all are like this. Disappointing.

Hermosa

An attractive introductory fountain pen.
This pen is an extraordinary value! Most fountain pens at this price range are absolute trash, with very low durability. However, Pilot has managed to create a compelling pen at this kind of price range that is really a step above its competitors. I have bought both the medium and fine nibs, and would highly recommend that one purchases the fine nib over the medium nib. The writing is very smooth, and excellent ink flow. Because of this pen's price range, Pilot is able to offer a variety of pen designs and colours, which makes finding the perfect pen for anyone a breeze and a joy. I've already purchased two of these pens, and I use different coloured inks for both. I'm very happy with my purchases and would recommend them to anyone who wants to get into fountain pens. They are very user-friendly.

Excelente primer pluma fuente
