Q: where is it made? what country?

China. Don’t buy these. They are terrible. Poor quality construction, flimsy blade and very rough teeth that do not bite into wood. I returned the one I bought.

Q: How do i fold it all the way up again? it's mostly closed and seems locked. do i push the button thing? why aren't there directions?

Yes you push the button and fold back the blade back into the handle.

Q: Can anyone other than the seller confirm if the sub-par versions have been replaced with legit saws? Or are these still bad knock-offs?

Mine was a well made heavy duty working model.

I would go with a different saw it doesn't cut great. I cut wood with the one I got. Not an impressive saw.
