Not getting the title, ending not so sweet for me.
Admittedly I did not read the other books in this series. And I've read my fair share of D/s relationships. This is relatively well-written, although if you take the sex away from the relationship, I'm not sure what is going on between Cole and Rem. I just don't get it.So story: Cole and Ren were lovers ten years ago when she was 18. Then there's an accident during one of their sessions and Ren is injured and Cole's so rattled by it that he breaks up with her. Present day, Ren is the submissive to Lucas, who she clearly loves, wears his collar, and by her own admission, he knows her better than she knows herself and we get to read numerous instances of this. It's endearing, actually, if you're into the D/s kind of thing. He's seems like the perfect Dom. Anyway, Cole sees them dining at a restaurant and wants her back. He enters into an agreement with Lucas and Ren is to spend two weeks with Cole and then return to Lucas. And herein lies the issues with this. For two men who love her strength and confidence, they seem awfully quick to make a number of emotionally-charged decisions for her without her involvement.I hated the ending and frankly was disappointed at Lucas's behavior, but I am still Team Lucas all the way. I was actually hoping there would be some tragedy to make Cole disappear. I was not crazy about him at all in this book. And then there's the sex: public sex, sex with strangers, threesomes (MMF), foursomes (MMMF), sex on a boat, serious bondage, serious discipline (belts, paddles, etc). It's all hot if you're into that kind of thing. I was not a fan of any of the scenes involving Cole as he's not just dominant but crude and harsh. Not my thing.

Great series
I’ve loved each book in this series. Lucas has been so good to Ren after she left a bad relationship. But she’s always loved Cole. Cole can’t get over Ren. When a chance to get back with her occurs, he promises he’ll never leave her again. What I didn’t like was that both men were so possessive of her yet they shared her with others. My heart did ache for her, how can she chose between them, sh4 loves them both. There’s a surprise ending which I did love. I recommend this book.

"Sweet" and addicting. Need more like this series to read . .
Sweet Series ~ Read for the first time Early 2013 got them from the library. Bought the books December 2013 so I could re-read them. Yummy series with explicit sex scenes. I read books 1 to 6 quickly. Giving each book 5 stars.~~Bookshelves on my Goodreads: a-series, aa-erotica-5-10stars-amazing, author-maya-banks, authors-for-erotica, authors-for-romance, genre-action-packed-romance, genre-erotic-suspense, genre-erotica, genre-erotica-bdsm, genre-suspense, read, read-in-2013, sexual-mf, sexual-mfm-or-fmf-or-more, sexual-toys-or-objects, species-human~~Review:This series is excellent. All I gotta say is WOW!! Hot, steamy, very explicit sex scenes and a for sure recommended read!!Must read in order since all of the characters are in all of the books once they are brought into the storyline. There is a lot of new and old friendships, Hot Steamy sex. They all have good suspense, action, romance, BDSM, Spanking, bondage, multiple partners and more. . . keep you right at the edge of your seat and wanting more. This series is much better than "50 Shades of Grey". Since it has more with bondage, spanking, more characters. . yummy ~ would recommend and would read again. If you enjoy this series I would recommend reading "Wicked Play Series" by Lynda Aicher and "Masters of the Shadowlands" by Cherise Sinclair. Both are excellent BDSM series with a lot of hot steamy sex scenes and more. Need to read these series in order, the characters continue thru the books. . . . I will be re-reading both series in time since I have them on my kindle. :-)~~~

Good and bad - regretfully a three.
I feel bad for giving this a rating of 3. If it weren't for the negative, I would have given it a four.Positives: I liked the tension between the characters, I could understand or identify with all of them and their actions, characteristics and decisions. They felt real to me, even though their dialogue at times seemed flouncy and over dramatic.Negatives: Banks has a habit of presenting a situation or emotion in two or three paragraphs, then restating the entire emotion or situation in yet another paragraph. Three two five paragraphs are often designated to stating things as simple as "Damon became more possessive of Serena during her pregnancy." It's a compulsive habit for Banks, it seems, and she does this unaware. It dragged the story down quite a bit and became more irritating as the story progressed. Also, this is written in 3rd person omniscient. Now, I'm not sure if that's what she was going for, but constantly hopping between character emotions within the same paragraphs, coupled with her repetition, made the read highly confusing. I had to re-read paragraphs and pages throughout the story. If I didn't like the overall story and characters these two negatives would have made me close the book after a few chapters. Granted, someone else wouldn't be bothered at all. To each their own.

Sweet Addiction
I have to start by saying that I loved this series so much which is why I think my disappointment in the story that Cole finally received was so great!!I believe anyone that is a fan and has read the entire Sweet Series expected far greater and totally different things for Cole. This is a Super Dominant Alpha male and you want me to actually swallow the fact that he would share the one true love of his life?? Come on, really? This didn't even really feel like Cole's story to me, since Ren and Lucas were such a huge part and as much as I have loved Cole in the previous books I found that I really, really like Lucas too. All of this made it really hard for me to be real cut an dry with the whole 'Cole and Ren should be together thing' - all in all I have to say that this story confused and frustrated me and I am simply giving it three stars because the story was well told and the sex was smokin' hot!

Disappointing and implausible
Once again a supposed erotic novel that is often just plain nasty. Very mysogynistic, but supposedly the female wants all that. The usual tosh of rich people flaunting their wealth, just happening to be drop dead gorgeous, and other implausibilities. Do readers really get swallowed up by these fantasies (maybe they do judging by the 50 shades phenomenon). Poor people have sex too, are maybe even skilled at it, maybe even enjoy it, but don't get to swan off on private jets to private islands to sail round on private yachts with a crew of raving perverts. It would be nice if some of these types of stories could be set more in the real worls. Yes that is a place you can have fantasies about.

My absolute top, favourite erotica, bdsm, menage story.
I have just finished reading this book for the 3rd time, and thoroughly enjoyed the story yet again. Of all the page porn I've read this is my favourite.Ren is a petite submissive of with some asian heritage, her master is Lucas and they have been together for a year in a very successful relationship. The only downside is that Lucas is known to be a short-term master and Ren adores his handling of her but accepts that it may not be long term.Cole is Ren's first real love and the person who she explored her sway toward D/s with, he made a mistake - during an intense scene involving a bullwhip he marked her badly and she needed stitches. Cole never forgave himself and withdrew from Ren physically and then eventually left her.Cole sees Ren with Lucas at his club and decides that he wants her back, for good and here lies the basis of the story - both dominant men want Ren for themselves but also love her enough to want her to be happy. Lucas gives Ren to Cole for two weeks to work their 'thing' out of their system and this allows Ren and Cole to re-ignite their love but also leads Ren to accept her love for Lucas. This is heartbreaking to read at times as you feel Ren's anguish and it is written very well. The sex scenes are extremely hot, some of the best i've read and these include menage/group scenes, bdsm, public scenes, anal and a very hot captain and steward!!!I will wait awhile but will definately be reading this yet again when the page porn well runs dry for a while!

Not for the faint hearted.
WARNING - SPOILERS.Maya Banks has written Cole's story for his fans. She has stated it is not book 5 in the sweet series, but then again she has still included sweet in the title. It is far from sweet! I'm no prude, but some of the sex scenes were pornographic. Even I was shocked. So Cole has featured in some of the other books and we didn't know much about him. Turns out when he was young, he fell for a girl called Ren. They both wish to experiment with bondage etc and Cole being the Master in the relationship. However, Cole got a bit carried away with a belt and hurt Ren...even leaving a scar. He couldn't bear the guilt he felt so he left her. It didn't ring true with what we know of Cole that he would give up the love of his life because he hurt her when they were learning what they liked. It seems Ren was not upset he had hurt her...she is more upset he left her.Fast forward 10 years and whilst Cole is out for dinner with Damien and Serena, he sees Ren. Unfortunately, she is with her new Master, Lucas. The book starts with Lucas' story. He reminds me a lot of Damien and I liked him. He takes care of Ren. The second part of the book is Cole. I didn't actually like Cole's story that much. I didn't like the sex scenes or what they got up to (M/F, M/M/M/F!). The final part of the book is Ren's story.Basically, Lucas knows that Ren was once in love with Cole and he knows Cole wants Ren, so he allows Cole to have her for two weeks (he doesn't tell Ren). He wants her back after two weeks. There is too much of Ren thinking and missing Lucas and even realising she is in love with him! But, she loves Cole as well. Cole loves Ren, Lucas loves Ren. It has a HEA, but not one that I was pleased with.I don't really understand why Maya Banks went with this storyline for Cole. I would have preferred him as a side character in the Sweet series than this story. There is more I could say but I have already given too many spoilers.

liked it more when i was finished
I am a big, huge Maya Banks fan love this series and the KGI series, This is Cole's story, Cole is having dinner with Damien when he hears a laugh and turns round to see its Ren, his 1st and only real love, after getting over the shock he realises she is with another man and wearing his collar, he meets with her master and they come to a agreement that Ren will spend two weeks with Cole and see if she feels the same, at first I had a problem with this, why would you give someone up for two weeks and risk losing them, after pondering I came round to the idea that Lucas (Rens master) just wanted her to be happy, I wont continue with the plot or it will spoil the book but the story is great totaly different way at looking at a bdsm relationship like all relationships there is sometimes the one who got away and if we were given a second chance no matter how happy we thought we were would we take it? would you always wonder the person you are with was there because you were there first choice, loads of really hot sex scences here you will need a ice pack and a glass of wine for some of them, but as always a great story the ending was lovely and the story stayed with me after I had finished.

Rating
The third in the trilogy, deffinatley a story for a lady who can but cant make up her mind. If more people are more confident to read stories like these they would see how emotive the story line is.She got what she wanted and needed in the end. Engrosed start to finish.
