Excellent Paint Stand
After seeing several model car builders on YouTube using these Tamiya paint stands, I decided to try them out. WOW! They've made my model building life so much easier. They're both easy to use, and with the smaller parts it's so much more convenient to clip the parts tree on here and hit them with a couple of squirts of spray paint instead of hours of hand painting. Time saver! The other stand made specifically for painting vehicle bodies makes painting so much easier as well. You can rotate the stand on its base and pick it up for easy spray painting of the body at any angle. I've been building models for over 30 years, and these paint stands are a game changer!

Best quality paint stand
The Tamiya stand is the best choice for painting model cars. Holds the body securely which is very important if you are painting a rare hard to replace kit or a resin body as you do not want it to fall off and get cracked. Th clips are great for holding smaller parts too.

Decent
Great for painting plastic model cars, but not plastic model airplanes. Other media can be use to be painted all the way around by turning the table.

Well worth the price!
Tamiya makes a great product. Does exactly what it is intended to do! Hold your kit in place as you spray away. You can paint your entire car kit with this handy tool. I recommend it …and for under 30 dollars out the door you can’t beat it.

Great product for small scale painting
This is one of the most useful gadgets a model builder or anyone doing painting on a small scale can own. Painting gets messy at times, and trying to hold small parts with tweezers (or worse yet, your fingers) while painting them will yield poor results--e.g. fingerprints in the paint--and more of a mess than is necessary. These two turntables (and there are two in the package, not one) will hold a wide range of parts for brush or airbrush painting. The larger turntable is just over six inches across and has a series of holes and slots to hold spring-loaded metal clips (four are included) or pieces of sprue or old paintbrush handles or whatever to which small parts are attached. The smaller turntable has a more specific purpose, that of holding model car bodies for painting, Tamiya's line of 1/24 car models comes to mind. This small turntable has two springy metal brackets which can be adjusted to hold objects like model car bodies, the hulls of model tanks or ships, and probably a lot of other items as well. Tamiya also makes alligator clips which are designed to fit the slots in the larger turntable and I got a set of four of those as they looked like a useful addition--note that these are different from the four clips included with the turntable set. Someone commented that the turntable rotates so freely that an airbrush can cause it to rotate when you don't want it to--seems like a piece of masking tape would fix that.... Prices for this product vary widely, so shop around. I got mine through Amazon for half what some hobby or craft stores charge, so check various sources before you buy. This is a really useful product however, so at some point any modeler should consider adding it to their tool collection.

I bought this as a solution for my miniature painting hobby, in order to be able to batch prime, basecoat, and varnish. I had already tried a generic brand system and had been SEVERELY disappointed. This, however, has proved to be a treat. I did read on reviews how many people do not like the included clips. I found them a bit fiddly, true, but really easy to use once you get the hang of them, and very gentle on the miniatures, no scratches even on relatively fresh paint. I also read that the carousel is too light, and yes, it's light, but unless you're painting solid, large resin pieces it shouldn't be a problem. And you could easily weigh it down or stick it to a heavy wood block or something. The carousel movement is smoother than any other I've tried, and I did not expect that it would have a number of extra placement solutions, intended for sprues but easily adapted to "alligator clips on cocktail sticks" kind of things. As you can see from my photos, I was easily able to fit in 8 32mm miniatures (not included) using separately purchased tamiya alligator clips. I have not yet used the second carousel, but have some ideas on how to use it (I don't really paint vehicle models). Given the abysmally enormous difference in quality compared to the generic thing I had before, I would give six stars, but alas, that can't be done.
