JACK TAYLOR: SET 2
T**T
Good, but .......
Iaian Glen is really an outstanding artist. He IS the character of Jack Taylor, each performance wholly believable, authentic and true. We've not read any of Bruen's books but without doubt these are dark and depressing stories, and a rather dispirited, vacant after taste which is probably exactly what the Taylor character lives. Gallway never looked so bleak.

Netflix streaming video combines set 1 & 2
The series is great. However if you watched Jack Taylor on Netflix streaming video you would have seen all 6 episodes. Which turns out is set one and two. I was watching the last 3 Jack Taylor videos, on Netflix, the same month that they were being released on DVD. Netflix streaming video lists all 6 videos as S1. So I thought that set 2 videos were new ones that I hadn't seen which they were not. In fact since Netflix streaming video is only $8 per month with a free month you might want to consider signing up for Netflix instead of buying set 1 and 2 of Jack Taylor for a total of $73.69.

When Irish Eyes Are Not Always Smiling
Gritty Irish crime series based in Galway. Jack Taylor left the Garda in disgrace and makes a living investigating cases the police are not interested in. His drinking habit sometimes gets in the way of a healthy lifestyle, but Jack never shirks a task and always follows throught for his client. Iain Glen nails the role of Jack Taylor and Nora Jane Noonan brilliantly plays the feisty police officer dancing around a relationship with Jack. Highly recommended.

The Jack Taylor series has been great (I'm up to the latest season now)
The Jack Taylor series has been great (I'm up to the latest season now). They are a bit dark, but the acting is superb and it's been a pleasure watching the character of Jack Taylor grow as a person while solving interesting crimes.

Foul language
We are a Christian family and we didn't like the foul language. Other then that we liked it. Jeanne

A treat for the eyes and the mind.
The lovable but flawed Irish "lad," is an expected character. It's been done hundreds of times in film. But nobody does it better than Iain Glen. As Jack Taylor he really brings the character to life. He's delightful. He gives the flawed Irish character a depth not usually seen. The stories are well written; well thought out; well executed. Worth watching again, and again.

This is a very good Irish crime series
This is a very good Irish crime series. Fortunately, it doesn't contain profanity, and the dialog is easy to understand. Iain Glen is a fine actor as are the other characters in these stories.

Interesting series
Jack Taylor is a decent private detective series of three movies. The stories are well portrayed with a private detective who appears sardonic and bottom-of-the -barrel. Jack was an Irish police officer but left the job. He became an unofficial and unlicensed private investigator. He solves his cases by rattling the branches. He works with two assistants- one a younger man and the other a lady officer for whom he has some romantic ties. The indisputable charm of the series is the perspective on daily Irish life in the smaller towns. We hear about but never go to the capital Dublin. The people have their unique values while Jack tries to overcome his alcoholism (a stereotypical detective). Jack is the traditional roguish investigator with his typical flaws. Being in small-town Ireland without having to buy a ticket presents a refreshing and unique landscape to the stories.

The series is excellent, but the labelling on the DVD cover is ...
Buyer beware: "Set 2" is NOT Season 2. It is the last three episodes of Season 1 (assuming that Season 1 should have 6 episodes). The series is excellent, but the labelling on the DVD cover is misleading.

the perfect anti hero
Jack Taylor, the perfect anti hero. Gritty is definitely the perfect description. Jack looks gritty, lives gritty, works gritty. We love this series, it's moody, dark and very believable.

Jack Taylor is one of the best series we have ever watched
Jack Taylor is one of the best series we have ever watched. You do not know what is going to happen next. Iain Glen is superb as the flawed Irishman who deep down always wants to do the right thing.
