Fancy Nancy and the Delectable Cupcakes (I Can Read Level 1)

FUN AND EDUCATIONAL! Great Book!I love the fact that when reading to my 4 year old daughter, she is learning new words and the meanings of each new word. Reading not only this book but other Fancy Nancy books has exposed my daughter to words she can use to expand her Vocabulary! In the back of this book are a list of Fancy Nancy's Fancy Words.... Vocabulary words that were used in the story, along with the meaning. My daughter and I practice at the end of the story... I say the word and she tells me the meaning (ie: Delectable = Yummy) Now what 4 year old would ever use the word Delectable,,, My 4 year old!

We love Fancy Nancy and the story is absolutely wonderful. But this is professionally edited and formatted and yet in 3 places it’s missing letters.My kindergartener didn’t know what de nitely was (definitely), or why Nancy wanted our (flour) in her cupcakes. For a beginning reader this is not okay at all. How confusing for her.

My granddaughter's favourite book. This has been read, and read, and read, and... I got her some Fancy Nancy hoping to draw her in and overcome some of the resistance to doing her reading time. She was fine with being read TO, but resistant to reading, herself. She loves this, and wanted to read it every night. I've gotten her more Fancy Nancy books simply to save her parents from the one-book focus. VERY pleased.

My 5 year old daughter loves Fancy Nancy and baking, so this is one of her favorite books. We have given it to her teacher as a class gift and again to a couple friends on their birthdays. Much like Fancy Nancy, my daughter has a large vocabulary and is delighted to use big, fancy words. A great series for kindergarten to second grade girls.

My two daughters loooooove the Fancy Nancy series as I do! I love the way Jane O'Connor has incorporated into each book "fancy" words along with what they mean (Jane O'Connor gets a 10 in my book!). My children love the stories (which are also educational) along with learning the "fancy" words throughout the story. My children speak well for their ages (now 6 and 10 but were introducted to Fancy Nancy at 4 or 5) and I'd like to give some credit to Jane O'Connor's Fancy Nancy books for that. I love the character Fancy Nancy as well - she is soo cute and portrayed as a child who always means well. Credit also goes to the illustrator, Robin Preiss Glasser who does a fabulous job portraying Fancy Nancy!

My daughers (11, 8 and 6) enjoy this cute book! The sentences are more simple, but the words are big and challenging at times. Go with the "My First" I Can Read! books for emerging readers...the level 1 is for kids who can already read well.

My five year old niece is addicted to this series. She even reads the books to her five month old brother!

Another "exquisite" book on Fancy Nancy. My granddaughter now uses "fancy" words, at age 4, in the appropriate way, thanks to a clever series of Fancy Nancy books. What a unique idea!This book just had to be added to my granddaughter's collection. If you get these books for your little girl, they will be a guaranteed "hit".

I have bought this for daughter who is a huge FN fan for Xmas, I have had a quick read and already know it will be a winner. As well as having fancy cupcakes it is also about being a good listener and what 5 year old doesn't need some encouragement with that?!

This was purchased as part of a birthday gift for my South African friend's little girl who is a bit of a 'fancy Nancy' herself. Also, like her mum, she is rather partial to making and eating cupcakes. She was also given two more books from this range and absolutely adores them as does her mother. The way that words are explained as being 'a fancy way of saying ......' is perfect. An excellent and fun learning tool.

My granddaughter finds this book delightful. She lives in Switzerland where English is taught as a second language so this book helps her with her reading

My mom gave my 6 year old several "Fancy Nancy" books for her birthday, and she LOVES them. She can now read them independently (about a grade 2 level book) and my 4 year old loves to have these stories read to her. Great books!
