Vocal Exercises Book 1 (Initial-Grade 4): Voice and Piano (Classical Paperback – 21 May 2001

For singing lesson.

This book has only 12 pages and only goes up to Grade Four anyway. This was not made clear and therefore I now own a book that is completely useless to me. I am very angry. If you don't cover all the grades, you should make that clear in your product description. Shocking. I will be demanding my money back.

I bought this music to see if these exercises would be better than the folk songs in the Trinity syllabus. I am not minded to ask my pupils to sing the very odd lyrics of some of the songs and I struggle to understand the harmony of some of the pieces. The book itself is well produced and printed on good paper. I wish I hadn't bought it.

okay to learn for exams

Excellent book. Teaches the students good use of tongue positions and flexibility through diction exercises, by working through the book students will learn to pitch every interval from minor 2nd to maj 7th and odd accompanying harmonies help them to learn those pitches and develip a sense of harmonies out with the norm. This encourages listening. The third ex in each grade takes them through various rhythmical challenges. Even if not doing TG exams these exercises are great for developing the musicianship of young students and are not as others have suggested simply strange little exercises. Highly recommended.

I was really disappointed with this book. I ordered it thinking it was Bray Vocal exercises for my exam students. This is apparently not the case. The exercises in it are outdated and none of my students liked them. I won't be using the book.
