A treasure
Beautiful documentation of creative expression from a precious region of the world. "Himalayan Style" is filled with extraordinary photographs by Kelly, is thoughtful written by Burkert, and eloquently designed by Schrom. This book is for anyone who has travelled to the region, or who is thinking about traveling there. It is also for those people that may not have the opportunity to visit the Himalayas, but are explorers at heart. Reading this book is a deeply felt journey! 'Style' on all levels- this is not just a picture book, every aspect of it is well crafted! I especially enjoyed the expansive scope the authors so perfectly distilled onto the page, a gigantic task to even undertake. Don't miss the architectural work of Gotz Hagmuller, who is a master and inspiration to all that have had the fortune to see the many places he has made come alive, including his home that he shares with his wife, Ludmilla. This book is a treasure!

This is a truly awesome book with beautiful color photographs and enlightened observation of the architecture, sacred spaces and interiors of the Himalayas. One gets to experience the architecture as it sits in the landscape. The amazing accomplishments of the people of this region with their exquisite artistry and use of color is portrayed. My favorite photograph is of a decorated yak with saddle blankets laying down along the path in Tibet. The design of this large book(10.9 x 1.3 x 11.2 inches) is really pleasing and it's exciting to move through it as there are so many rich photographs. It's like taking a journey with guides who know and love the culture and the land. I know we're going to enjoy this book for a long time. My husband just added, "It's a book lover's book."

When I saw this book, I sighed, because I always wanted to work on putting together a book like this. Chapeau to Thomas and Claire for curating this aesthetic little jewel. It stretches across the spectrum of the Himalayas and the cultures and artistic sensibilities that are contained within those communities and ethnicities. If you never get to the roof of the world, take in the magnificent beauty unveiled by this book - and savour your virtual journey.

A truly beautiful book
This is really a beautiful book with amazing pictures by Tom Kelly and interesting commentary from Claire Burkert. You can tell these two have lived in, and loved, the Himalayas for many years and this book is a must have for anyone who has had the pleasure and privilege of visiting this inspiring part of our world. Ranging through Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and India this book celebrates the spirituality that infuses every aspect of life in these wondrous areas. Highly recommended.
