Easy to Install + Easy to Load + Stable and Secure GREAT ECONOMICAL SYSTEM FITS KIA SORENTO
Easy to Install + Easy to Load + Stable and Secure GREAT ECONOMICAL SYSTEM. We have used multiple high end expensive kayak rack systems including J-stands and lay flat rollers and cradles and always dread loading, anchoring, and unloading the yaks - so much so that we stopped taking them with us for short trips. This system is not only easy to load and offers multiple ways to load and tie off / anchor, it allows us to carry three (3!) kayaks in a very secure compact footprint using our KIA factory OEM aero bars (other systems we used would not fit easily and required more spacing between and as a result required flat or round bars that extended past the roof rail system which were held on by a Yakama clamping system meant for retrofitting roof rails. The 2019 KIA roof rails are continuously attached to the car roof with no gaps or spaces beneath it so the previously used clamp system wouldn't work - so we had to find a new alternative and one that wouldn't set us back $500 like the Yakama and Tule systems did. As you can see in the images - the bases attach to the aero cross bars and are secure and do not slide or roll during use, they have a rubber pad that the yak sits on to both help keep it form sliding back and forth during wind load and braking and also to cushion it. The tower is easily raised and lowered and has a lashing ring on the top top pass straps through. So when we load three yaks we load the center one (call it "B") and tie it to the towers then we add the left side (call it "A") and tie it to both B and the cross bars; then we add the right side (call it "C") and tie it to both B and the cross bars - so each kayak is tied to another kayak (A+B and B+C) and those lashing straps are alternately tie to the cross bars or the tower - this way if any one fails there are minimally two other redundant systems holding the trio in place and it also reduces the load on the tower and transfers it to the cross bars. Naturally we also lash the three noses snugly to the front of the car and the rear tails have a loose tie off to the rear of the car - this keeps the trio from sliding forwards or backwards during acceleration, braking or wind loading. I am completely satisfied with this system and would highly recommend it - it was rather economical in price - maybe $150 for the tower and three sets of kayak bases and some extra straps and supplemental tie offs (see images of blue straps used as guides) - so its half the price to a quarter of the price of a premium system but it is quality and functions very well and after 24 trips at high way speeds nothing has failed or worn out. The only cheap parts are the straps - they are thin and likely have a 500# max tolerance and the buckle clamps on the ends are cheap, hard to use and very sharp and unprotected - once I tossed the strap over the kayak and the wind caught it and blew it back and it hit me in the face slicing my cheek open and another time I let one flop over the top of the kayak when I was unloading it struck the rear quarter panel of the car and it put a dimple and scratch in the side of our 2019 KIA - after that I replaced them with Yakama straps which are twice as thick, tighter woven and the buckles have rubber wraps which prevent bodily and car damage. So use the included straps for other things around the house and buy new quality straps (the dent and scratch cost $250 to fix and the quality straps only cost $25). SO MY FINAL WORD - I have thoroughly used this product for over 8 months and dozens of long distance trips and still fully support a 5-star rating of the towers, pads and functionality, flexibility and durability (a 1 star rating on the cheap dangerous straps). THIS IS THE BEST UPRIGHT CARRIER WE HAVE USED. THIS IS THE BEST UPRIGHT CARRIER WE HAVE USED IN DIRECT COMPARISON TO YAKAMA AND TULE UPRIGHT J-STANDS AND FLAT, CRADLES AND ROLLER SYSTEMS. THIS IS THE BEST UPRIGHT CARRIER WE HAVE USED FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF EASE, QUALITY, FLEXIBILITY, AND DURABILITY - THE PRICE POINT MAKES IT EVER BETTER - "6 STARS ON A 5 STAR SCALE" Happy Yakking!.

Good value, buy better straps to hold down kayaks
Very easy to install, the biggest down side is they are very loud while your driving down road. I purchased two of these they look good on my truck. The other down fall is the straps that are supplied in kit so not stay tight, every time I stopped on a road trip to NY I had to tighten them.

Definitely recommend
We really like the strength and sturdiness of these racks. As you can see, we’ve secured 3 kayaks and were very pleased when we drove in the highway at 70mph. They didn’t rattle or shift at all.

Carried the Kayak, but Was a Bit of a Hassle
We have only used this rack for one kayak, but it is a two-seater so it is heavier and longer than a single seater.- My husband installed the rack on his Subaru Outback without any major problems, but it took him about an hour.- The kayak went on alright, but it was a bit of an ordeal getting all of the stabilizing/attachment points taken care of, since the kayak basically stands on one side on the rack.- Several of the screws almost touch the roof and the sunroof glass, which caused great concern once the weight of the kayak was added. We could hear them tap when we went over bouncy road areas. We're going to see how we can either cut the screw shorter or use some sort of padding in the future.- After everything it took to get the rack on, my husband didn't want to go through that again over and over, so he removed the crossbars with the rack still installed. However, if you change between racks for various cargo, this could be inconvenient. We wanted this rack because we are still considering getting a second kayak for our family. However, I am not sure the weight of our two-person kayak should be combined with a second kayak on our vehicle with this rack. Add this to the other issues: I wish we had gone with a rack that would allow the kayak to sit flat instead. For two single person kayaks, I would still be concerned with the weight causing the screws to touch the roof.

Work okay
Put these on just like the description stated. They just work okay. You have to go slower with these on as the wind blows them around. The kayak cradles work better then this rack.

Setup a little difficult. Could be made a little easier.

Put on my wife's Jeep Renegade. We bought an extra pair of pads so we can put 3 on the roof. Works excellent.
