Had one of the best dining experiences at Restaurant Marc Forgione and felt compelled to buy this book. In a world where food has become so highly processed, manipulated and overthought, Forgione makes cooking and eating fun again. The focus is to make food taste as best it can. Its simple and simultaneously sophisticated. What a refreshing concept. Many of the dishes I ate on the chef's tasting menu are in the book. It offers a great mix of original and classic ideas. I would recommend this book for an experienced cook or an enthusiastic beginner. The ingredients are easy to find and the techniques are manageable. And the food is just that good: straightforward, thoughtful and contemporary.

Great, yet complex, recipes
It is a great cookbook and I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that unless you live in NYC or Chicago, you probably won't have access to a lot of the ingredients in the book. These recipes are quite complex with many ingredients that are hard to come by. I'm a pretty good cook and take on numerous difficult recipes, these however, are beyond my level....way beyond. They will also take a lot of time to prepare. As long as you keep those things in mind, you will love this book. We ended up giving it away as a gift to a chef friend of ours.

Love it!
I knew very little about Marc Forgione prior to purchasing this book. What an incredible story. This book is amazing and really speaks to the details he believes in. Might not be the best book for a beginner home cook; but for someone who is training professionally or cooks a great deal this is a must have.

Love reading and looking at the pictures in this cook ...
Love reading and looking at the pictures in this cook book. The recipes are easy to moderately hard depending on what level of a cook you are...I am a pretty serious good cook but not a professional chef. The recipes I have tried so far have been given an A+ by my husband. As a good cook book or just a coffee table book...I highly recommend it.

Too many errors
Marc Forgione is obviously a talented chef, and some of these recipes look great. The only problem is many, maybe even most, of the recipes are simply way off and, therefore, impossible to complete. I have cooked many recipes from much more challenging books such as The French Laundry and Eleven Madison, so I know I am competent enough to cook these, But, they just don't work. The veal tortellini tastes amazing, you just need to know to put the veal confit in the food processor (a step that the recipe neglects to mention). If the recipes worked, this would receive another star or two.

Lame seller, great book.
Okay...had this book saved in wishlist and finally pulled the trigger. Big fan of Marc F and his style...my problem is paying for a book and then it arrives with a 5.00 sticker on the front? Poor seller practice right there...lame actually. I bought this new and appears I got used. Avoid this type of seller.

Great photos and non-recipe descriptions
We have done two recipes from this book. The latest, the Clam Chowdah, turned out well. Looking forward to trying more. Great photos and non-recipe descriptions.

A Must Have
Great cookbook. Easy to follow recipes for the intermediate home cook. Instructional, useful ingredient/utensil tips. Includes recipes for all types of food - pastas, beef, seafood, lamb, deserts, etc. Beautiful pictures. Loved this book so much, I went to his restaurant in NY city, wasn't disappointed. I wouldn't recommend for the beginner cook.
