Classy, well-made laptop case
I got this after mistakenly thinking that buying a cheap laptop case wouldn't make a difference. My cheap case lasted the extent of my college Winter break and then started to break, starting at the edges. So I set off to find a better laptop case, and ended up buying Speck's red "satin" case. It's absolutely delightful to the touch and this is the only laptop case I've found that covers ALL the bottom edges of my MacBook. Usually other cases will not protect the back hinge-corners of the bottom of my laptop, which leaves them exposed to scratches and scuffs, dents, etc. I am so glad this one protects the entirety of my laptop! Also, MacBook Pros do NOT need ventilation holes on the bottom because the fan vents are located in the hinge of the laptop, and I was always annoyed with how all other laptop cases had extensive holes and slits in the bottom casing, which let in a lot more dirt and dust than I wanted between the case and the laptop - and that can cause scratches! This case here has a few slits, but very few and most of the bottom casing is solid (see pictures I uploaded). The apple logo still shines through nicely, a teensy bit fuzzy around the edges, but not much. Very nice matte look!I know that this case will definitely be the case I've always wanted for my laptop - it's perfect!! Thank you Speck for making such a quality MacBook case :)

It's expensive... that's a given.
Update:Okay. I ordered this product in the beginning of September and it is now broken. As much as I love the color and "durability" of the cover, I really can't do this anymore. I've had two Speck cases and they've all broken (initially in bits and pieces around the edge of the case). And according to the warranty, normal wear and tear isn't re-imbursible or grounds for a new case, and neither is damage caused by normal causes. My laptop hardly leaves my house, and when it does, it goes into my backpack, which I baby. So I do NOT understand why pieces keep falling off of this FIFTY dollar case. If you have a brand new Mac and want to protect it while you look for something dependable, this is the case for you. But plan on spending the amount you paid for that mac for the lifetime of your laptop just to cover it with this case.//I'm a student. I'm not made of money. Yet I wanted something that did a good job 'protecting' my Mac from the normal dings and wear. I've used cases similar to these only to find out it actually warped the edges of my old Mac (luckily I got it replaced). It clings on just right, and it's not too hard to pry off for the monthly cleaning. This case doesn't HURT me as well. The old cases I had would have a piece of plastic lining covering the edges of the laptop that would cut into my forearm and wrists at the slightest use. It was painful. This case, no problems. It's durable, a darker color than pictured in the image, which I wanted/expected. Unless you plan on dropping hundreds on those 'extreme' cases for laptop to protect your laptop from nuclear warfare, I think this case will do just fine. Just wish that warranty was easier to figure out.

Excellent protection and great looks... A bit overpriced and might benefit from more heat dissipation perforations.
Skeptical of precision engineered plastics, I hesitated more than twice before pulling the trigger on this pricey bit of mac-candy. I was in no way convinced that it would actually fit my MacBook 5,1. And, there was no comforting phrase to be found anywhere in the description to fully assure me that it would. But, I carry this MBP everywhere. And, it needed some protection... as well as some concealment of marks from previous scrapes on subways, coffee houses, and, just being dumped off the desk... once. OK! Twice.Rest assured. Those of you who have tenaciously clung to one of the last of the user-upgradeable macbooks... This hard cover doesn't "just" fit late '08 and '09 MBPs - It's like a custom-tailored suit. It clicks right on the top and bottom just like it should.I chose the red one, hoping that it wouldn't turn out to actually be pink-ish. And, I was not disappointed there either. It looks GREAT. The satin finish was the clincher. it's not some smarmy or slippery textured cover. It has a nice tactile feel to it and things don't stick to it like other covers I have tried in the past. for those who care, the lighted apple logo shows very nicely through the cover. Why only four stars? you ask...Answer #1: $40.93However, no matter how well it works, looks, or feels - It is way overpriced for what it is... a computer condom. it seems that specialty accessory manufacturers realize that they too can collect their own "Apple tax". But, what choice do you have when you need to protect your MB?Answer #2:I am concerned about the design of the heat-venting mesh/perforations on the bottom piece. I wish they had put more thought into better/more heat dissipation. it is possible that the bottom cover may cause a bit of excessive heat retention. But, perhaps that's a personal paranoia. In summary:Pros: Looks Great. Tactile impression is very nice , Color is a deep red (mine) not pink-ish, Fits MBP 5,1 like a glove.Cons: Way too expensive for what it is and could possibly benefit from a little more perforations for heat dissipation.Additional note: L-shaped Magsafe connector will not seat completely when this cover is on (not enough clearance). you can turn it around, but, that will block the USB port next to the magsafe input. No problems with the T-shaped adapter though.

Very good case for 13" MacBook Pro
Very good case for 13" MacBook Pro, I've had it around 2 years now and it's hardly been off my Mac. It's protected it through many hours of travelling by public transport as well as being lugged about to work. The texture is a brushed matt type material, which has great grip and functionality and the look is very pleasing. The only concern I did have was the overheating element of my Mac as the vents seem to be fairly small however this hasn't been a major issue as yet.

Smart case, great satin finish
These cases are great, they fit my 15" Macbook Pro perfectly and are well made. This is the second one I've had, the first lasted me around 3 years but had started to look a little scruffy and a couple of the corners had broken so I bought a replacement. Would get 5 stars if they could make the finish a little more hardy and difficult to scratch. I'm very careful with my laptop which is why this case lasted so long, however they are easy to damage if you're not careful!

So far so good...
I preferred this case in black as it looks much better and adds another dimension to the regular silver/metallic look, though in black I wouldn't call it "see thru". Compared to the "mCover Hard Shell Case" this one looks less 'cheap' and more professional looking. It's scratch proof should last long.

Don't waste your money.
I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out which cover to go for my MBP, and I'm so disappointed in this product. I've only had it about 3 weeks, and one of the clips has broken away from the cover already. This means that the cover for the base only has 3 clips left. It also doesn't fit the computer itself very well either, you can feel a bit of give when you press on the top lid of the computer. Having bought a Speck cover for an 11" Air, and it being such a great fit, I am so disappointed in this cover. Terrible product, offers no protection at all.

Very good item
Good Item with a good fit to the Mac-book. prompt delivery well packed.More pricy than some others but is worth it. The only thing is to think about is the correct to is to get the correct model no to fit the laptop... it's marked on the bottom of the Mac.

Absolutely love it!
Just got my new Macbook Pro & really wanted a skin that looked great & most importantly protects it too - well this will certainly keep my Mac safe from scratches & scuffs and it looks fab - gorgeous colour, totally reformed the look of my laptop.I would certainly recommend to others, & its feel is lovely - not hard & plastic but almost a rubbery feel but hard enough to protect it.

Nice protective cover
Nice protective cover. Ive had the cherry pink coloured one by speck before and loved it. Tried another cheaper brand just for a change of colour and was not as good and the edges cracked after not so long a period and went back to speck. Totally worth it, long lasting, protects my mac well and looks good too.

Great product
This is great - really nice and tactile, it really does fit the 13" retina display model and I can get it on and off without scratching or scuffing. Although its plastic, its got a really nice tactile feel. Great product.

Does exactly what it says.
If you want a case to prevent those little knocks and bumps to your MacBook Pro then this is the product for you. Fits very well and the 'satin' feel is rather nice. While it does increase the thickness of your MacBook, it is very a very subtle increase and not really noticeable.Would definitely recommend

great case
I am clumsy with my laptop & phone & spec products protect both. The last Mac cover I had eventually broke ( after many a mishap), but saved the laptop... :)Clips on the corners are prone to splitting first.

Quality Speck product
This is the second Speck case I have purchased (for my other macbook Pro) and I am impressed with the fit and quality feel. I know it will be durable because I have had my other for years. Well worth the price.

Flimsy
The case material itself has a high-quality satin feel and looks quite nice. Unfortunately, the clips that hold the bottom part of the case to the machine are incredibly flimsy and break if you so much as look at them funny. After just over a year of usage the bottom half of mine is now only secure with the machine keeping it in place.

Prompt delivery, great product
Delivered quickly, in great condition, looks good and fits well, scuffs a little easily, but it's job is to get scratched instead of the Mac, so it's not the most pressing of issuesHad it 2 months, no issues at all yet
