JRP45 - Teaching Rhythm For All Instruments/ Class or Individual Instruction

I didn't know how you could learn rhythm, but this book does it. Be warned: it's long, it's boring, it's practice. I've been working with the book for three weeks and my rhythm has improved and more than that I'm aware of the timing. I'm a self-taught guitar player that skipped over the part about timing.

There's a reason this book has been around for over 50 years. Purchased this for my 10 year-old grandson who is learning guitar and saw almost immediate improvement in his sense of rhythm. Highly recommended.

This book was recommended by a drum teacher. I was told that if you go through this book, you won't have great knowledge, you will have excellent knowledge! It is highly recommended and can be used with other instruments from what I am told. A real gem and one that has been around for a long time without any changes. Highly respected book.

Deceivingly simple, but it was not easy, but effective for beginners who is learning to play the piano. There are so many moving parts to leanring to play piano, as an adult, and I needed help on the beat side...played the notes week, but was not really able to follow through with the rhythm, as my teacher tells me. Extra help with this book that I could work on at home.

I have found that all of Joel Rothman's books are laid out very logically, introducing an idea then adding changes and variations one at time until you're reading a complex page made up of simple ideas you've explored fully already. Honestly I don't know why so few books are written this way. I'm a big fan and it's my number one book for teaching students to read.
