Worked great for jerky
I got this to use for slicing thin beef jerky. I did the first slice at the "1" setting and it was too thin. Switched it to "5" and that was perfect. It sliced faster than I thought it would and the slices were fairly even. The meat did tend to go sliding off the holder after each cut due to the front flat side of the blade grabbing it and lifting. I had to adjust the amount of pressure I was putting on it at each stage. I got the hang of it toward the end of the job. It did what I wanted it to. There are professional slicers out there if you needed this to cut a bone in frozen ham but if you plan to just cut thawed boneless meat then you can't go wrong with this. Cleaning it was what I expected. The blade and holder tray came off easily and those were washed while the rest was cleaned and then wiped with rags. There are a couple nooks where the meat got stuck, I used a toothpick and it worked to get the meat out. It's not made of plastic, most of it is metal and the body appears to be cast aluminum with an enamel paint over it. The only plastic part is the holder and tray. I think it will last a long time. The blade was sharp and cut wonderfully. Would buy again.

A good value
Some say it's easy to clean, some say it isn't. This is a home use model - it's not going to be all metal with the ability to take it apart and run it through a washer - so forget about that. But as home units go the blade comes out easily enough and it doesn't have the food traps that some other models have. It cuts well - but with limitations. I wish it would cut thicker - so I could cut steaks with it. I like to buy whole tenderloins because I get them for $5 to $6 a pound - and I cut them up for jerky, stroganoff, chili, and steaks. For steaks I have to cut them by hand. If you're doing a soft meat then you run into an odd problem with this unit. Because the sliding tray extends down below the center if the cutting wheel - it tends to grab the chunk of meat you are pushing and want to give it a ferris wheel ride before tossing it into the air. For roast or sirloin it won't do it - so if you don't use tenderloin then its' not a worry. I handle it by freezing the meat slightly - and not having the right side of the unit near the edge of the island. It's a good value as long as you have realistic expectations. I owned a commercial meat slicer and was heartbroken when the motor froze on my (I do a lot of hunting and fishing). This is my second home unit, and my last one would cut thicker slices but didn't do thin slices well (like for jerky). It also sliced French Bread - don't expect that from this one. Basically the home units either have the slightly serrated blade and will cut thicker slices and bread, or like this one they have the flat blade and will cut thin slices - but don't really cut bread well (have you ever seen a bread knife that wasn't serrated?).

Easy to clean, easy to use and exactly what I was looking for.
This slicer was exactly what I hoped it would be. Obviously, it's not a high speed deli counter slicer. But, it's perfect for home use. To be honest, I specifically bought it to slice smoked meats and it worked perfect for the sliced pork shoulder that is in the picture. We also used it to slice some cheddar cheese and it did a good job on that. The blade is very sharp and didn't have any issues cutting through cheese or the smoked pork. I appreciate the fact that the blade is removable for cleaning. Also, the carriage flips over so that's easy to clean as well. If you're looking for a nice slicer to use at home, I can say so far I think this one is great.

Great value
This isn't my first food slicer so I wasn't expecting greatness for the price I paid. But I have to say, it works perfectly for what we want it for.....cutting a roast beef for sandwiches. Sliced great, easy to clean. I've used it 3 times in my first week and it wasn't hard to get out of the box, use, then clean. I think this is a great item for a great price

To flexable
The good: The blade slices easily and it it is easily cleaned. The bad: The fence flexes way to much. When trying to do thin slices it will cut2 or 3 times thicker at the top than bottom. Also, on the one I got, the adjustment for thickness will change by itself slightly while slicing. The fence needs to be thicker/stouter.

Decent but under powered.
Under powered motor. Does decent on smoked meats, but struggles with cheese
