Great Cookbook

Great sugar free recipes!
Brenda Bennett is a master at making carb and sugar laden recipes lower in carbs an even sugar free. There are a huge variety of recipes in the book. Main course, side dish, and desserts. And I do love the mug cakes and the ice cream!

This is the one cook book you HAVE to have!
I can't tell you how much I love this cook book! I read the whole thing the night I received it- Almost every page was folded down! Some to make because they looked fabulous, but many because I had made them before and "re-remembered" them! Not only are these recipes delicious and easy to make, the cook book itself is beautiful. Well written, beautiful pictures, and a great layout. If you just have one cookbook- this is the one to have! It has every meal, snacks, drinks and desserts covered! Well done.

Sugar-free title is misleading, but a decent cookbook
The biggest problem with this book is Brenda Bennett's mis-representation and use of the word "natural" for many processed ingredients that are included in her recipes. Coconut sugar, for example, is not natural. Erythritol is not. Xanthan gum is not. Brown rice syrup is not. Even powdered stevia is not natural. Natural foods can be seen and eaten as they actually exist in nature, like an apple. The substances used and recommended by Bennett have either been treated, reduced or created by humans. It follows that Bennett's introductory comments about sugars, other caloric sweeteners, sugar alcohols and flours are incomplete and well, a bit mom-ish. Better, by far, to skim through her food addiction story and the rest of her commentary, and go straight to the cookbook. This is where Bennett shines. The 194 recipes are smartly organized, beautifully photographed and yummy-looking. Many are familiar comfort food recipes that a whole family can enjoy. Some are completely sugar-free and some have the processed substances listed above. Bennett's very keen on erythritol and stevia as the preferred sweetening agent. Her other fave ingredients include potatoes, gluten-free flour, legumes and all things coconut (the new darling ingredient of Paleo people). If Bennett had titled her book as a low-sugar option for families using the least objectionable sweetening agents, I would have felt less mislead. Purists who are looking for recipes without any caloric sweeteners, powdery flours and/or foods that have a naturally high sugar content should pass on this book.

AWESOME COOKBOOK FOR CUTTING REFINED SUGARS!!
This cookbook is amazing!! If you are looking for a clear cut example on how to do away with refined sugars in your diet this is it. The recipes are made from simple ingredients that are easy to find or that you should already have in a "healthy" pantry. They are also very friendly for families with children. So many other books I have come across have great ideas, but they don't always account for children's tastes and willingness to try new things. These are familiar recipes that you have probably used for years that have been completely redone. Another great thing is that there are photos with every recipe so you know what to expect. I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS BOOK!!!!!

I love these well-crafted recipes which give you the expected results. I also appreciate the nutritional breakdown, the photo that comes with each of them, and that any sweetener in a recipe is usually stevia or erythritol--the only two I use. This book as a great addition to my cook-book stash.
