Looks healthy so far
Impressed that this sprouted so soon in a container. It's a large one, but maybe not large enough for a zucchini plant. We'll see, but the seeds were fighting for dominance, so they are good and healthy. Fresh.

No seeds....
If I could give 0 stars I would. There were no seeds in the package, it was just dust. I'm assuming that they were old or stored wrong and the seeds just disintegrated.

Black Beauty is tender and mild
These grow very quickly and are prolific producers. Germination after last frost in about 5 days. Prepare the ground by mixing in compost or nitrogen rich fertilizer with calcium to encourage production. The skins are very tender and can be eaten along with the rest of the zucchini. We've had it as zucchini bread, stewed with tomatoes, sliced and fried in panko breading, pickled and raw in salads. Be sure to watch for vine bores which can be treated with many different non-pesticide treatments. You need plenty of room for the plants to spread - at least 3 ft. X 6 ft. for each plant. They are not really vines but they lay down and 'crawl' and the leaves are huge! Squash can reach a foot but pick before that time. Raised beds are very helpful for watering and picking.
