KEEN Alamosa Hiking Shoe (Little Kid/Big Kid)

I am a big Keen fan, for kids shoes. This shoe lasted an entire school year. It was his only school shoe and he wore it every day from September till the end of May. That is a lot of wear and abuse a 9 year old boy can give to a shoe. Since we live in snow country, he would walk through snow and rain all winter long, and though the shoe is not waterproof, it did a great job at being water resistant! I must say I am super impressed all the time with Keen. My kids can only wear black or brown shoes to school, and I try to buy them this type of shoe every year (my daughters as well), but I do wish that Keen would have more shoes in basic colors (black or brown) without having to put neon orange or green or the such all over the shoe (school will allow some matching color insets, but not too much.). At the end of the school year, this shoe looked great! I am not kidding, the shoe could go another year, but he outgrew the size and I don't have another boy sibling to give them to or I would! The sole did not even look worn, the shoe had some bends and creases, but no tears or rips! The laces, that is a different story. We have always had issues with these type of pull type bungee laces (and I know other reviewers have complained about the same thing, even with other brands of shoes that use this same type of bungee lace). Half way through the year, the pull bungee laces were too long, but we tuck them back into the bungee lace part and they stay put. Extremely easy on/off for any child, some decent arch support, stay snug on his foot, size is true to size, very comfy and very well made. The prices are reasonable as well for a shoe that lasts 9 months! I will keep buying. Keep up the good work Keen!

First let me start out my saying how impressed with amazon I was when I ordered this product. My son wears a size 2 and in the size 2 box I ordered thee were size 4 shoes. Amazon overnight shipped the correct shoes! Now that my son is wearing them they are his favorite. Nice sturdy footing and easy on and off.

fell apart pretty quickly

color isn't what I expected but overall the shoes stood up to a beating...for a short time anyway. got these for my son while he was attending camp. thought the waterproofing would hold up longer. if your kid is spending a lot of time outdoors maybe spring for a more expensive pair.

We bought these for my son because of Keen's fit and reputation and our own past experiences. My son's last pair of Keen's (can't think of the name of the style) lasted him for TEN MONTHS. The only reason he stopped wearing them was because he outgrew them. They lasted through an entire school year- through the winter, snowy months- and through a summer. My son plays on the floor a lot so he wears through the toes of shoes pretty quickly.So we bought these as next pair. He has complained about them since day one. He keeps saying they hurt. Usually he just says the right one so we kept thinking it was just the one shoe or that they would get better. They haven't. My son has sensory problems and certain language delays so he isn't able to describe what bothers him. Point being... they aren't comfortable, even after 2 months of 'breaking them in'.They are also very difficult to get on. This creates a lot of frustration in our home. His teacher even asked if he had outgrown them (she didn't know they are practically brand new.... see next statement) because they are so difficult to put on.AND... they already look terrible! When I put his old pair (that lasted almost a year) next to these - which he has only had for 2 and a half months- they look close to the same in wear.My own personal Keen's have lasted over 2 years.Not sure what's up with these... but we are highly disappointed. Planning to contact Keen's in the hopes they will be of assistance. Can't afford this kind of money for shoes that aren't going to last and aren't comfy.

Got these for my 5 year old son to wear as a second shoe in addition to his black Sketcher sneakers he was wearing, partly because I have heard you are not supposed to wear the same shoes everyday and partly because some outfits look better with black shoes, some with brown. At first he did not want to wear them because he loves his sneakers. But since he tired these, now he refuses to wear the black sneakers, even with black pants. He has worn the Keens every day for the past 2 or 3 weeks.They are super cute. Every Keen shoe I have bought for son or husband have been excellent quality and these are no exception. Something different than z-strap velcro for the kid who has not yet learned to tie shoelaces. My son is currently in kindergarten and I hope to tackle the issue of lace tying sometime this year and will not buy tie shoes until he learns. I am so glad there are so many cute options available.

I bought these for myself and I really like them. I am a female who works outdoors in a Plant Nursery, so I work in all sorts of weather. I needed something that was waterproof but breathable and worth the money I spent. I think these shoes would be great for my kids, once they are a little bit older. I'm not willing to spend around $50 for a pair of shoes my boys will out grow in 2 months, but when they are a little older I will consider it. I have had these shoes about 2 weeks now and between the rain and mud we have had, my feet are dry when I get home and that's the best part! I would recommend these to anyone!

FIts quite nicely and appears to comfortable although I haven't worn them around much constantly. I don't have the adult equivalent but I am assuming the leather would be little thicker and tougher and the sole a bit thicker etc based on other adult Keens I have. Was worth trying for the price.
