C.R. Gibson Rustic Recipe Box with Tab Dividers and Coordinating Recipe Cards, 53pc, 6.5'' W x 4.75'' H x 4.25'' D

The first two boxes I received had beautiful customized index cards; the third box does not. The indexes were large sized and all positioned in the center of the card which is what I prefer for the simple reason that I customize my own index cards to make more subject indexes and keep them alphabetized straight down the middle. This is easy to do if know how to make a Word text box. Also, under the subject, you are given helpful tips. For example, index for eggs &dairy: eggs will separate best when cold; bring eggs to room temperature before adding to a yeast mixture or they will slow yeast action, plus 3 other tips are listed below. I really miss these original index cards and wish they would bring them back.Love the size of the cards, 4 x 6 and the box size which is perfect to sit on the kitchen counter.. I'm moving all my 3 x 5 recipes to this more convenient size as some recipes are too long even for both side of the 3 x 5 cards.. Box is attractive and durable and outside can be wiped down with a damp cloth if necessary. Like the large, centered divider cards - this way you arrange subjects A-Z and don't have to criss-cross back and forth. I have typed out subject labels of my own and sized them perfectly with the 12 that came with the box. Would love to buy subject cards separately as this way you can sub-categorize: casseroles - chicken, casseroles, beef, etc. Overall very pleased.

I know by experience C R Gibson has a quality you can trust and depend on, I have used a similar recipe box for many years and it is still performing excellently. I decided I wanted to give my 5 children a recipe box with all of our family recipes so I purchased 6 of these recipe boxes to start my project (extra one for me as mine is full) . I am very pleased with the quality, design, cards and index tabs. I am so excited to type out, print, and organize these boxes for them I hope I can wait until Mother's Day when I plan to give it to them. Highly Recommended.

This is an attractive and sturdy recipe file are of well constructed and vinyl covered cardboard. It would make a good gift to someone who still uses recipes on cards rather than online recipes. My intention was to replace a 46 year old metal file with sharp corners that would gouge my hardwood floors if ever dropped. As other reviewers have noted the file dividers themselves of provide product category cooking information. For example, the poultry divider has cooking time and temps for various weights of chicken, turkey, and duck. The dividers offer more categories than my old file and any categories that you do not used can be flipped to use the blank back side tab to create additional categories. I used the "microwave" backside for "bars" so I could separate them from cookies. I still find it easier to pull time honored recipes from a file than searching online .

I’m very pleased with this item, it is well made and sturdy. However, it only holds 4x6 recipe cards, so if you’re like me, and your recipes cards are still on smaller cards, they will sit too far down in the box to reach easily. So, either I deal with that, or re-write all the recipes on the cards that came with the box. Which, by the way, 40 come with the box, which means I will also have to purchase more. Just wish I’d realized before purchasing, my fault, but wanted to make others aware. Check your current card size, unless you plan to copy over.

I'm very happy with the quality and design of this recipe box. It's very roomy and can hold a lot of 4x6" recipe cards. I like that the lid does not fall all the way back, so you can prop up your recipe card to easily read it while cooking. While the lid looks like a golden color in the photo, it's actually more of a tan/taupe color. I don't mind, tho, as it's a very nice box!

This recipe box is exactly as shown on the picture. The lid is attached to the box and lifts up from the front. The cards are the perfect size and have enough lines to write not only the ingredients but the cooking directions as well. The only complaint I have is that the cards are organized almost TOO specifically - for instance, it's organized by particular foods such as "poultry" rather than the broad categories such as "entrees." Of course you can add your own dividers if you really wanted, so not a big deal.

I LOVE this recipe box. I immediately started transferring all of my recipes from an old book to this updated system. It's very cute to look at and I've actually had some compliments from friends who saw it in my kitchen. One of the best buys I've made in a while, especially since it is great for organizing recipes and grabbing the right recipe quickly. There is plenty of space on each card to write ingredients and cooking instructions.

I didn't really like this recipe box but that is a personal thing. There really was nothing wrong with it. It came with dividers and recipe cards. The box just didn't fit in with my stuff well.
