This Climbing Dome is a GREAT Investment
My granddaughter loves to play with this, but for a 3 year old, an adult MUST remain present. She has had some "close calls" like almost getting her head caught in the narrowness at the top of the dome. We imagine her relaxing her entire body weight in that position, in an attempt to get down. So this is where an adult will have to "guide" the child while showing them where to properly grasp the correct bar for support . It took three of us adults about three hours to put it together. But the sheer awesomeness of this product is that it is quality. It is sturdy and solid and pretty. When we first got it, we thought of putting it outside. But if you have the space keep it inside. The child will be able to enjoy it all times of the day, rain or shine. I believe it will last longer too. No worries about rust on the outer screws from sprinklers. No discoloration of the product from sun damage. We even added a climbing rope! Our 3-year-old loves it. And although the product touts it for kids 3 to 9, our very tall, yet slender 15-year-old has a ball climbing on the dome with his sister! Heck, her athletic dad even put his entire weight on it when he heard that it has a 1K pound limit. Once your kid learns to climb and get down properly, it becomes easier for them to manipulate. A great addition to our playroom. #easyoutdoorspacedome climber

Super awesome to play on!
This thing is rock solid. The box says "easy to assemble" which I guess is sort of true. It's not too confusing but it takes a few hours if you're doing it solo. Also the box it comes in is 74 lbs. I didn't know it was that heavy so I feel horrible for the delivery driver who had to bring it to our porch. But this thing is awesome and our kid loves it. I like that I can climb on it too 😀

A great addition to our backyard!
When we decide to replace our small toddler swing set for our 3- and 4-year-old, we originally considered buying a standard swingset. However, our backyard is small, with low trees, and we had difficulty finding something that fit easily but was still entertaining. We also had been battling a problem with black widow spiders in the yard, and were hesitant to add something with a lot of hidden, enclosed spaces. In the end, we decided to purchase this instead of a traditional swing set and couldn't be happier! We are very impressed with the quality. This set is very sturdy, and has even held my husband's weight (about 185 lbs) without a groan or flex. It is the perfect height for us - my kids will be able to climb on it for several years, but it isn't so high that I worry about their safety now. It was a bit time-consuming to assemble, and definitely would be hard for a single person to assemble alone. As far as the play and interest aspect, we've found that our kids play with it often and for long periods of time. Sometimes it is a rocket ship to the moon, others a lion cage. Sometimes they like to hang upside down from the bars like monkeys. My son even tosses balls through it like a giant basketball hoop. Honestly, I feel like they play with this more than they would a traditional swing and playhouse set! Not only do they enjoy it, but we've seen them making great improvements in their motor skills and balance, while increasing their upper body strength. Their confidence and stability while climbing has increased dramatically in just a few months. We definitely recommend it!

This item is very sturdy. I'm 250+ and it holds me easily
This item is very sturdy. I'm 250+ and it holds me easily. It takes a while to put it together though and you'll have some very tired hands after. I would not recommend building this on a hard surface because you'll scratch the paint. Best to be built on grass. I have some scratch marks from building it on a dirt floor. It took my son and I about 1.5 hours to build this and we were moving as fast as we could in order to try and surprise my daughters. I would recommend having a helper and set aside at least 2 hours to build. If you have arthritis in your hands or little hand strength, you may need someone to help you put the caps on. I really wish they had some wheels on one end of it for people that have it on grass. It can be picked up and drug across the grass, but it takes some work. If there were some wheels, it would be so much easier to move around. You can however, put a kid's ride on under one side and drag it around pretty easy. Odds are you'll have one of those around if you own this. Update 7/18/2017: My girls still love it and I haven't seen a bit of rust on it. Still very happy with this purchase! Update 1/4/2024: My girls haven't used it much the last couple years, so I gave it to one of my neighbors that has young ones. Some of the plastic caps came off, but the unit was still strong as ever. Very happy I purchased this for my girls so many years ago.

Good product.
My kids love it! It was easy for me to put it together myself, but I let the kids help. The Styrofoam fell apart inside, and a few rods were scratched, but nothing a little paint can't help. It's very sturdy and didn't destroy my wallet.

Great product, poor packaging.
We got this for X-mas 2013, and once we got it assembled, we were really happy with it. The kids love it (4 and 7 at the time, now a year older), even the older niece and nephew like it. The dome itself it very durable. The directions for assembly were fairly clear, and even with a seven year old as my helper, I had it together in about 2 hours. There are a TON of nuts and bolts, so make sure you have a good set of wrenches or preferably a socket set. I do have one major complaint - packaging! This box and packaging this thing is in ends up being VERY inadequate for shipping. It arrived with parts falling out, including a trail of nuts and bolts all the way up my front walk. Being we got this for a christmas present, I knew we were in trouble. Once opened the problem was immediate. Weak cardboard, coupled with weak Styrofoam coupled with heavy metal bars all combined to create a disaster. Additionally, the 100+ nuts and bolts were blister packed to a cardboard backer with low grade plastic that came to pieces. All told, ~70% of the hardware was missing. However, since they wrapper the bars in packages of two, not even one was damaged. A quick call to the manufacturer, and they said they would ship a replacement hardware packet. Two weeks later (1 week past Christmas) it had not arrived. I called again, to find out it never was entered of shipped out. They did apologize and send one out via priority mail and I had it in three days. Thankfully the I was able to get the box taped back up, wrapped and under the tree. Furthermore, due to a wet January, I did not have to assemble until February, so the kids were never disappointed (in Santa!).

Great outdoor climbing dome, long assembly
I paid full price for this and don't commonly review items. Trying to help other parents with important purchases though. First, assembly: I assembled this by myself using a couple ratchets in about 4 hours. There are parts of the assembly that would have been much faster with two people. I had all parts necessary and one extra of all the bolts, washers, nuts, etc. The only assembly 'problem' I had was adjusting everything to be perfectly square while tightening and that was likely because I am a perfectionist. Second, product quality: Solid as a rock after tightening. I could climb on this thing. I noticed a couple scratches on the bars but nothing serious. The color scheme is very bright and vibrant--looks good next to my blue/white swingset. It does seem a bit big for my 3 year old (slightly above average size) when it comes to actually climbing up the dome but by next year it should be fine. He did say he loves it and can climb with a boost from me or just swing from underneath. Also excited about fort building opportunities. Overall: A solid addition to backyard play area. Seems very sturdy and structurally sound. Three year old loves it. Feeling proud of myself for assembling it. A happy dad.
