Great Homemade Ice Cream—Just Needs a Bit of Patience
Great Homemade Ice Cream—Just Needs a Bit of Patience I’ve been using the Cuisinart 2 Qt Ice Cream Maker, and overall, it’s a solid machine. It’s super easy to use—just freeze the bowl ahead of time, pour in your mixture, and let it churn. In about 20–25 minutes, you’ve got smooth, delicious ice cream, sorbet, or frozen yogurt. The 2-quart size is perfect for families or entertaining, and clean-up is pretty straightforward. The only thing to note is you must freeze the bowl for at least 24 hours beforehand for the best results, so it’s not exactly spontaneous. Also, the motor can be a bit loud while running, but nothing too crazy. All in all, it’s a great buy if you love homemade ice cream and don’t mind a little prep time!

Convince and quality
Was going to buy a ninja creami but saw so many mixed reviews about waiting 24 hrs and not a lot of product. This is wayyyyy better. I can make healthy ice cream (more of ice milk) with all the substitutes i need (lactose free, sugar free, etc) within minutes! Super easy to use, would highly recommend

A great machine!
I had a Cuisinart ice cream maker (purchased in 2002) and it worked ok but I wasn't in love with it and used it rarely (I donated it when we moved three years ago). Recently, I decided to get another ice cream maker and looked at ones with compressors (Lello $700 and Whynter $300-$400) but for that kind of money how often and how many batches do I really plan on making? After reading the reviews, I decided on this $150 Cuisinart model. It fits nicely in my pantry but not sure why people complain about it being so noisy, it's what I'd expect. The directions for operating and cleaning are easy. Having a 2 qt. capacity is great if you want to throw in some add-in's (chocolate chips, fresh fruit, etc). It makes Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt and Gelato. The on/off switch automatically sets the time depending on your choice but you can add or minus minutes if you choose. Once you are done with your first batch (30-45 minutes) the drum which remains quite cold, gets washed then back in the freezer it goes. It doesn't take but a few hours to re-freeze so if you want to make another batch you're good to go. Gelato is my favored frozen treat and it comes out so creamy. Btw - I recommend a cookbook "The Art of Making Gelato" by Morgan Morano. Both the Biscoff and Apple Pie gelato are amazing!!! One caveat; you will need a good digital scale that shows grams and ounces (Oxo is a good choice). I also recommend using a Tovolo container which is air-tight (as a precaution against ice crystals, I also place a piece of plastic directly on the surface of the gelato but that's just me). Unless you want the convenience of having a compressor I highly recommend this model for the price, ease of use and most importantly, the results!

Great Product! Works as stated...
As long as you follow the instructions, the product works great and you get very good soft-serve ice cream, ready to eat. See image and video taken at 1min before cycle is complete. Notice how it holds its form. Very creamy and ready to eat. I recommend the product. Bowl: Liquid between the walls must be frozen solid, no slushing sound or motion. Place bowl in the bottom of freezer (upright), may take 3 to 5 days to freeze depending on your freezer. The closer temp is to 0°C the faster it will freeze. My box freezer gets it done in 2 days (even with a whole bunch of other stuff in it). Sound: Starts of at bet 50db to 60db; towards the last 5 minutes increases to 70db to 80db (with cover and lid closed). Not silent, but worth the outcome. Adding Solids: Soft fruit bits should be okay. I used candied fruit bits (tutti-fruity) and it struggled a bit. Add solids cold and at the end of cycle. Also, keep liquid ice-cream mix in fridge overnight before use. Blade: This is where it loses a star. The blade is plastic and i am not sure it will survive frequent usage. The blade's two connections to the upper ring are .5" wide and a few mm thick. Easy to clean. Hand wash only. Capacity: 1 quart liquid mix gives 1.5 quart ice-cream. Starts to touch the lid when ready. Will try to get it to 2 quarts in next try and update.

Excellent, works exactly as intended
I'm so pleased with our Cuisinart ice cream maker purchase. I highly recommend the Cuisinart Ice-70 to all. So easy and rewarding to plan ahead your ingredients for your favorite flavor ice cream and gelato. Making gelato with an egg yolk custard is new to me and the creaminess with fresh in season fruit is the real deal. Not hard to make! Just watch a YouTube video or two to get the hang of it. I'd rather have less quantity of highest quality fresh ice cream than something from a grocery store that's not only expensive but filled with air, preservatives, gums, and/or saw dust (looking at you, Breyer's). Tip, so when you're done making your batch of ice cream and have removed it from the freezer bowl to a separate ice cream container or tupper ware, don't immediately soak that still frozen freezer bowl in your sink with hot water etc. That would probably be a quick way to thermal shock that bowl into cracking possibly. I can imagine many can't or don't read the instructions... -worth mentioning, even if that is common sense. I just leave the empty sticky freezer bowl on a counter to come to room temperature gradually for an hour or so, then it cleans up in seconds with Dawn and warm water. Make sure it's fully dry and level before putting back in your freezer for a future ice cream batch so the freezable liquid inside it can freeze level.

This ice cream maker is so fun to use! It looks nice, it’s easy to clean and it makes great ice cream in about 15 minutes! Great ice cream maker for the cost. Very strong and durable and does exactly what it’s supposed to. Just the right size for making ice cream at home for your family.

Fantastic Ice Cream Maker
November 26, 2022 Update I still have and use this ice cream maker on a regular basis and it works as well as it did on the first day. I bought the 4-year Square Trade Appliance Protection Plan, but never had to use it. I would not buy the protection plan again as the ice cream maker as held up over the years without any problems. I would buy the ice cream maker again and recommend it to anyone. Update 03.31.2018. After I called Cuisinart, it occurred to me what caused the problem. The problem was that I placed the ice cream maker on a counter top that had a couple of dish towels that overlapped, which made the ice cream maker uneven (not on a level surface). The next two batches of ice cream that I made, I placed the ice cream maker on a level surface and did not have any problem with the lid. So in this case, the problem was caused by me not putting it on a level surface. I am very happy with the ice cream maker and am glad that I figured out the cause and solution. Also, the representative an the Cuisinart Service Center was very friendly and helpful. He offered to send me a new lid; as it turned out I did not need it. I highly recommend this ice cream maker. It works very well and easy to use and clean. Update: 03.04.2018. Today I went to make another batch of ice cream and now the lid will not lock down. I don't know what is wrong with it. I tried for 15 minutes and the lid will just not lock on so I can't make ice cream. This is a mystery because all the previous times I've used I have not had a problem. I will call Cuisinart Service Center tomorrow and see if they can help. I will update this review after I have talked to them. I have made four batches of ice cream since I got this ice cream maker in January 2018. It works great. I have not had any problems that other people have had with the unit. Some people stated that they had problems with the lid, but mine fits fine and I haven't had any problems with it. It makes ice cream in about 20 minutes. It is also easy to clean the components. Be sure to freeze the container for 24 hours before making any ice cream. Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Outstanding Ice Cream Maker Cuisinart ICE 70P1
I’ve only had this machine for a couple of weeks, but I’m already using it every other day to make keto ice cream. After struggling with a stand-mixer attachment, I decided to try a dedicated ice cream maker—and I am genuinely impressed. This machine is top-tier in nearly every respect. Ease of use is excellent, and even the initial shipping and packaging were done properly. There’s nothing more frustrating than receiving a poorly packaged product that arrives damaged; that was absolutely not the case here. Pros Extremely easy to use Fast: ready in 20–22 minutes for soft serve, or about 2 hours for a firmer consistency Very easy cleanup Stays stable—no vibrating or “walking” around the countertop during operation Cons There is a somewhat odd noise while running, though I have nothing comparable to judge it against The plastic paddle doesn’t look especially robust at first glance, which raised some concern about durability. That said, it has not been an issue at all, and I suspect following the instructions (starting the machine before adding the mix) prevents any problems Overall This was a fantastic investment, and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. You would be hard-pressed to find a better machine for making homemade ice cream at home.
