I have bad allergies and needed something to help with mold, cedar and two dogs that shed a lot. After doing some online research I ordered this unit and I placed it in my bedroom. I then turned it on high and turned on the UV light, closed the bedroom door and let it run for about an hour while I did a couple things. When I opened the door it was a very noticible difference as it knocked out the bad pet smell and the air was much cleaner. That evening when I went to sleep, I put the unit on medium and left the UV light on and I made it through the night without sneezing and my eyes didn't itch nearly as bad. For two weeks now, I'm feeling much better. I ordered another one for my son and put it in his bedroom and it's working great. Then I bought two more so now I have 4 units. I didn't know what to expect upfront when the first one arrived, but I can honestly say it has made a difference and I am sold. During the day, I turn off the unit in the bedrooms and close the door, and turn on the one that is now in my family room. I have found if you turn it on HIGH for an hour with the UV light on it knocks out the allergens. Then right before I go to sleep, I'll turn off the UV light and leave the unit on medium for the rest of the night and it works great. The real test will come this January when Cedar hits as it gets really bad where I live, but I have no doubt I will see a big difference. If you buy this, you should definitely feel a difference. The other thing I like is the unit is not loud which makes it easy to fall asleep. When turned on the UV light that's located inside the unit is visible and not very bright, but it is also accompanied by a blue light on the top of the unit which at night is pretty bright for me. Keep this in mind when you decide where to place the unit as it can also double as a small night light. However, if it's a problem, without turning off the power button, you can just turn off the UV light which is separate. It appears the UV light really does it's job and I haven't had to keep it on all the time, but for the first 3 days I did just so it could knock everything out in the air. I don't usually write a product summary, but I feel this one is worth it.

A great product, does a good job cleaning the air.

We've owned 3 of these HEPA air cleaners for almost 10 years. They are very dependable, work well to clean the air, and just keep going. Just purchased a fourth as my oldest son took one to college. We have one in each bedroom. Having the fan on at night also provides nice white noise, not too loud, but just enough noise to isolate background noises. I would purchase again, and have.

I now have three of these units in my home. My wife is allergic to all kinds of "stuff". I am pleased with the performance of this unit and it has helped to reduce allergy issues in my house, BUT I have had one defect... The unit performs well. Sound levels are acceptable at higher speeds and very quiet at lower speeds. I have one unit in my family room, one in the upstairs loft, and one in the master bedroom. I used a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze for nearly twenty years (yes 20 YEARS). It had UV, but was not well shielded which ment I had to keep the unit away from the kids. The wife also had problems if the unit was producing too much ozone (..in the master bedroom). These towers do a good job of shielding the UV light with no ozone. The unit is well designed and quality built, but it is the UV light that I had the defect with. The very first unit burned out it's UV bulb in less than a week. I returned the unit without issues and got a replacement. I decided I would let it run for a bit to see if the second unit had similar problems, it did not. So now I have three... **UPDATE: 2-3 months in now and I have 2 more units with burnt out UV bulbs. These bulbs are $31 each. If these bulbs burn out at this rate there's no way I can afford to keep these units around. Also, forget the six month life cycle on the HEPA filter.. Mine got completely clogged in 2-3 months. Not huge because it shows how well the filters are working in my home, but these filters are starting to look like a very expensive maintenance item. So just be aware that long term, this units will cost you $$$. Dropped the rating due to these issues... ***LAST UPDATE: I finally figured out the UV bulb problem. Two of my units kept blowing UV bulbs constantly (I almost gave up on this thing), BUT 1 never blew its bulb. I started to wonder why and realized that this particular unit was plugged into a power block with a surge protector. I decided to add surge protectors to my other two units, so I purchased and installed a Minuteman MMS110 Surge Protector from Amazon on each unit. I haven't had any UV issues since, and it's been several months now. Sooo, it appears these units are very sensitive to power spikes. If you're having similar issues, try a surge protector! Going back to 4 stars!

Absolutely amazing. This air purifier not only removes odors, but it's FULL HEIGHT UV-C bulb (from the bottom to top of the entire unit) sterilizes the air, as well. Our home has three cats. I used to be able to tell when one of them used the litter box (even all the way across the house, and our home is clean)....but we've got air returns in every room, so no matter where the cat boxes are, the odor is pulled into the air return and pushed around the house. Also, we live in FL, where there are TONS of pollens every day of the year. Ever since we replaced our old (8 years old) air filtration machine with "HEPA-Like" filters, and gave the Germ Guardian a couple of days to work, there are no more odors...none, no more dust in the air in any room where the unit operates, and the house smells like a Spring morning in the north. No exaggerating, no need to. This thing just works, and the number of sneezes and allergic reactions (even with the screen door open) has been reduced by about 90% when the unit is on. I recommend keeping it on "low" or "medium", because the slower the air passes by the UV-C light, the more the air has contact with the UV light and the more germs it kills. The HEPA and Charcoal filter do a great job at eliminating kitchen odors, as well as other nuisance odors. I bought two of these, and I'm considering buying another, because they work so unexpectedly well. I'm not sure what others are saying about the "burning smell". Some odors, when they are filtered and then encounter UV-C light, can ionize and change a bit, so what smells like cooking fish going in, might come out smelling different, but I've had these running practically 24/7 for a month, and they simply make the house smell fresh and good. Other brands and "Allergy Sites" want $400-$1,500 for their UV-C HEPA filters, and most have no odor control on them. This may not be suitable for a severe asthmatic who needs a whole-house HEPA filter installed on their A/C unit, but it sure works well otherwise.

Use this every day. It cleans a room sometimes smoke in and you cant even tell

We like it so far. Running on a 2 has some white noise. If you run on a 1 - barely hear it. Seems like a nice sturdy product.

I suffer from seasonal allergies bad, bad. I also have a major highway 300ft from back door. So I have smog, dust, and debris build up. I figured I'd try an air purifier to see if it would help. I did my research and settled on this one. I've had it for 3wks. It's been running about 75% of the time. And today I checked the filter. I attached the picture. It's mind blowing how much itchy stuff is on the filter. However, I've noticed a significant difference in my health since running the purifier. So much so when I leave out the house my body immediately goes haywire with coughin, sneezing, and itching. I love it so much I bought another unit for my summer home. It was easy to setup. Sleek modern design. Lightweight to carry. The 5 fan settings are great. The higher the fan level the louder the unit. Has a timer that you can program the unit to run up to 7 hours. The UV light gives added comfort that micro organisms will be killed on contact. It doubles as a cooling fan as it keeps my room chilled while on. It also filters odors. I deep fried catfish, and whiting the other night. The unit filtered the air in the house and after an hr after cooking you couldn't even tell I fried fish. Smell... gone! I highly recommend this anybody!
