This machine is worth every penny.
EDIT: Almost a full year later and this machine is still performing amazingly well. Still very happy. I'll try to be brief as I've only used this machine for 2 and a half tanks worth of cleaning. We just received it in they mail yesterday. Our carpet is disgusting to say the least. We have too many animals and let things get out of hand the past couple of years. One of our dogs is 15 and has accidents every day. The light colored carpet is now dark brown from mud, feces, and urine. I really should be too embarrassed to publicly admit to how awful the state of our house is in, but in order to illustrate how well this machine performs I don't want to hold back. Trying to make the house livable again is going to take many hours of hard work, and this Big Green Machine is a great start. I honestly thought the carpets had no chance of becoming clean. I was very wrong. As soon as I came home from work yesterday, I opened the box and unpacked the machine. Basically, this consisted of unfolding the handle to the upright position, and pulling out some pieces of cardboard packed inside the tanks. There's a 24 oz. sample bottle of cleaning solution in one of the tanks so be sure to thoroughly unpack everything. For now, I've set the hose aside because I had to see if spending the money on this top of the line carpet cleaning machine was worth it for our situation. (It is.) After we clean the carpets, I'll get to using the hose on the couches and steps and update on how that worked out. After unpacking, I filled the clean water tank halfway and put in one cap full of cleaning solution and went to work on a little square area I had just vacuumed. Wow! Just one pass forward and back and there was already a nice clearing of dirt, poop, and yuckiness that I thought had no chance of being removed. This machine is the real deal and tackled the test area effortlessly. It's really easy to operate, not difficult at all to push and pull, and the tanks are easy to remove and clean. So far the only negative I have is the cord wrapping around the handle. Just seems like there should be a better solution. Not too big of a deal, but this is a premium machine and it'd be nice to have a retractable cord like my Wind Tunnel vacuum. Speaking of vacuums, I need to find one that performs better than the Wind Tunnel I have now because even after vacuuming, the carpet machine still pulled up a ton of hair from the carpet. I need a vacuum that won't leave so much behind. I'm going to attach some photos of the test area. Keep in mind that this is only one time through. You're supposed to keep cleaning until you no longer see dirty water being sucked up, but since I'm going to do the whole room over the weekend I just did my quick test and took a couple of photos of the few passes I did. I've actually gone over the same area again and it's cleaner than the photos. Five stars for ease of use, and great performance. Buy with confidence!

Miracle machine!
Okay. Just ordered this in a few days ago. We are moving and needed our carpets cleaned. I didn't want to hire it professionally done because we're going to have to do it again after everything is moved out. After reading tons of reviews in various shampooers and watching "death match" carpet shampooer videos on YouTube, I decided on the Big Green. I finally got to use it today. Unboxing was easy as it was all put together and use was simple if you've ever used one of the red machines you rent at the store. I decided to start with my movie room. Let me just say that our couch is a sectional and it all kind of links together, so taking it apart and putting back together is a nightmare. Needless, to say I haven't moved it out since they out it in teo years ago. I will vacuum under it beat I can but that is about it. I took it apart today and let's say it was awful. Not quite an episode of "Hoarders" but with four kids and two dogs it was a lot worse than I thought it would be. After picking up the jewelry, candy, wrappers, hair clips, hair bands (about 1000), pencils (no wonder we can never find a pencil in our house), and some spare change ($1.57 yeah baby!), I was ready to go. What I was left with were some stains that had literally been ground in. Stuff that I was convinced would never come up. I have read this thing was nice, but nowhere in the instruction manual did it ever mention turning water into wine or any other miracle, because that is what it was going to take to make this carpet look good again. I considered for a moment boxing the machine up and using the money to get new carpet, but I thought, "What the heck. Let's give it a try." I started by spraying on a pre treatment on the stains in the carpet. Let it sit for a little bit while I looked for a "miracle" setting on the machine. After spending 10 minutes and not finding one, I decided "what the heck" and went for it. The result? Well the first 3-4 passes not too impressive. I didn't see much happening. Ground in stains - 1, Big Green - 0. But don't despair folks. My story isn't over yet. I watched enough videos in this thing to know that some really bad stains may take more than a few passes. So here we went again. This time Icouldnt believe my eyes. The stains were staring to fade. But they weren't completely up yet. Ground in stains -1, Big Green -1. This is a close race folks. I decided to give it another few sprays with the pre treatment and use a brush to work it in. I let it sit, went over it again and BAM! THE STAINS ARE GONE!!! I can't believe how good the carpet looks and how clean it got. This thing is amazing! Like the other reviews said, this is heavy (not real heavy. I mean it's not like you're trying to lift the earth here...). Probably not the machine if you want to do spot touch ups. However if you want to do it yourself and want to get professional results (and hate paying $100-200 every few months to have it done professionally), I can't recommend it enough. Worth every penny. Now if you will excuse me, I have more carpet to shampoo and am going to check the dirty water tank just in case it turned the water into wine...

Because of COVID restrictions, for more than a year we could not rent carpet cleaners - as the rental locations don't/can't clean the machines satisfactorily after they're returned. And after all that time our carpets looked awful. So, we decided to buy the Bissell Big Green. I did my homework and it looked like the Big Green consistently had the best reviews online. It's not cheap, but it works better - and is cheaper to buy - than the rental machines, and owning one is convenient and proactive. It means you can take your time to clean your carpets thoroughly without rushing to return it before you have to pay for another day of rental. You also have the advantage of having a powerful machine to clean up spills quickly before they set. The suction is so good that the carpets are merely damp after vacuuming. No fans needed as the carpets dry within a couple of hours on their own. I hate cleaning carpets, but if I have to do that job, I'm going to use the Big Green. It works well and it's foolproof to use. If you've got a house full of carpets, you won't regret buying one.

I bought this machine out of pure frustration. I love the lightweight ease of the Bissell, easy use and two way clean. I use the Bissell Big Green Carpet Machine in a 8 bedroom house living with a large family 2 dogs included. This shampooer cleaned with ease on extra dirty carpets where using other professional carpet cleaners had failed Removed family and dog stains with ease and left my carpets looking brand new. Love it Love it Love it, worth every cent :) :) :)

Excellent cleaner. Does a good job. I have 4 dogs and my carpets get very dirty at this time of the year . I have had numerous cleaners and the' Big Green' is the best cleaner I have had. It is not too heavy either . Very easy to fill and empty and clean. Had a couple of little problems initially but they were sorted out immediately. Very happy with the level of customer care.
