We bought the Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer, and it has been a total game-changer, especially for our cat. We noticed she was having some trouble breathing, and after trying a few different things, we decided to try this vaporizer to help with her congestion.Performance:The vaporizer works perfectly. If you made it this far just buy it. Probably the least expensive humidifier/vaporizer on Amazon and it works the best. I should have known, Vicks has been around a long time.I went through the cool mist humidifiers with fancy remotes, phone apps, ALL were useless, they could not even raise the humidity in a small bedroom.This is as simple and functional as it gets. I filled the tank with tap water, a pinch of salt and plugged it in, within 15 seconds it was putting out a soothing warm mist. Took my living room from 32% humidity to 58% in about 20 minutes. After a few hours my skin is not as dry and nose and throat are not dry anymore.Personally, I love the simplicity just fill the tank and plug it in. There are NO timers, settings, fancy lighting, remote controls, buttons or phone apps. I mean seriously, does a vaporizer need a friggn phone app. lolWorth every penny can not believe you can get this thing shipped to your door in one day for under 20 dollars.EDIT: By the way, the black flakes in the tank some people are complaining of are there as a feature. It is actually the minerals from the water you add. The heater boils them and deposits them into the tank so they do not blow into the air with the mist. This prevents white dust or mineral deposits like many of the cool mist humidifiers cause. Great feature

WOW This works just like grandma's ols vaporizer when I was a sick kid. REAL STEAM !! Takes about 20 minutes to start producing steam, but it is worth it. Add a little Vicks to the top cup and inhale.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s in a desert climate my mother always had her trusty Vick's steam humidifier rocking to make the house's air more pleasant. Every once in a while we'd dismantle it to remove the hard water deposits from the rods to get it back up to tip top shape.The second I moved out of mom's in the late 90s I bought my own and it was just as trustworthy. Ten years later I replaced it when it stopped working and that one was just as effective.But this latest version that I bought last fall is a joke. This is NOT the same humidifier Vicks used to sell. Where their previous product used to put out a solid stream of steam this PoS bubbles and gurgles to put out a pathetic amount of vapor. You HAVE to add salt if you want it to actually work anymore.When I went to clean the heating rods (which now needs to be done at least once a month where previously they only needed to be serviced twice a year), they're a different metal than what Vicks used to use. They're paper thin and black where they used to be thick with a tinge of coppery color. Just touching them while cleaning leaves your fingers blacker than a coal miner which NEVER happened with their previous humidifiers. Either my city completely changed our water right when I bought this, or Vicks is using the cheapest possible materials to make this. Which one is more likely?But even beyond it's pathetic performance and garbage Chinesium materials, they shortened the rods by what seems to be about 2 inches. This leaves the bottom of the rods WAY short of the bottom of the water reservoir. Where previously when the unit would turn off due to low water you were left with only an inch of water in the bottom of the tub. Now it turns off when the tub is half full.If you have one of their older humidifiers dismantle it and clean it. Don't make the same mistake I did and replace it. These new ones are literal garbage.
