Work exactly as designed right out of the box
The speed of the copper connection has to match the SFP+ port module speed. Cannot place a 1GB copper feed in from a modem and have a 10GB SFP+ module, only the port is backwards compatible to 1GB. Tested with HP, Ubiquiti, and no-name generic SFP modules, no issues with 800-900Mbps out of me business class hardwired connection. Ran an office that uses 2TB a month for a full day, no issues with heat or noise. Small form factor, decent device for the price.

The autosensing ethernet makes these a winner - at a great price
Most of these media converters lock you into a fixed Ethernet speed of 100 or Gig-e. These don't, which is great. Assume you put a pair of these with a fiber in the middle - either Ethernet port on either end can be 100 or 1000 mb. Like an autosensing switch port. the TP-Links wouldn't do this - if one end is 100mb and the other is gig-e, it won't work. These will. I can't speak for long term reliability of these (yet) - though I will if I have any problems. Also, I like the way the screw loosens to remove the unit as card that can be placed into a rack unit with an optional dual-power supply. For a few more $ you can add an SMNP module to keep watch over them. Another nice thing is the way the LEDs work - if there's a fault (either a down link, etc) a yellow light will appear. If everything is working, then it's green. So at a glance, you can see if there are any faults in a bank of them. I'm using these with Mikrotik bi-directional SFP modules for single fiber links. Will update with reliability issues if I find as some of these will be out in the cold.

Stay away
Unless you need 1:1 conversion (10gbe to sfp+ at 10g) stay away. The manufacturer claims that it supports multi-gig, but it’s a deceptive claim. The unit only converts between two *matching* rates. Last I checked, the only “real” optical modules are 1G and 10G. If I bring in a 2.5gbe signal on the Ethernet side and bring in a sfp+ optic on the other, the device does not work. Putting an sfp+ to Ethernet adapter in the sfp+ port makes zero sense, so it really only works with 1Gbe/1G sfp or 10Gbe/10g sfp+ There is no “multigig” support here, unless you’re playing with off-brand or boutique 2.5G/5G optics, which are silly, hard to find in a name brand, and generally more expensive than 10G optics. Stay awayyyyyy

Solid performing 10GBE to SFP + or vice versa adapter
Does exactly what is promised on the box. In my case 10GBE to 10GB SFP + without issue.

Beware coil whine
Unit worked as advertised. Only run for about 1 month though, so cannot comment on longevity. Separate power and link LEDs are nice for PoE powered equipment. Note that the copper interface will show link up even if the fiber is disconnected - sometimes this matters for failover detection, etc. Metal case is compact and nice. Biggest issue was the insane amount of coil whine my unit had, with two different PoE switches. Under anything more than idle traffic load, I could hear it from across a room! I only have one of these, so maybe I just got a particularly loud unit?

Great Copper-Fibre interface
Plug 'N Play without issue. Running now for over six months. Every speed test shows close to 10Gbps between a copper connected desktop 10Gb/s adapter, this interace and a fibre connected switch. Initially had a warranty problem which was easily & speedily resolved.

Very convenient
Bought these for use on those switches that didn't have enough fiber options, since all our upstream connections are fiber and we needed some additional redundant ports. Installed a few and they work well. Being POE powered (by Unifi switch) is extremely convenient- no power supply to deal with, and can reset the unit remotely as well. They work well, used generic single-mode FS modules with them, no problem. Nice status lights and unit is not crazy large. Hopefully they will last!

Bien emballé et excellent pour créer un pont optique sur réseau digital entre deux Switch.

I chose to pay more for this converter given that it advertised link speed auto-negotiation. I can't really verify the impact of this since my fiber internet speed is current 150 down/up. However, the media converter was easy to set up and has been working perfectly. I am now running entirely my own gear and consistently hitting 160 down and up on my speed tests. The unit appears well built. Decent weight, nice solid metal for the enclosure. I took the board out of the casing just to check it out. When re-inserting it, be careful to line up the power jack with the cut-out in the back of the casing. Mine was caught on the side of the hole and I'm sure screwing it all the way in could have damaged or bent something. So just ensure they are lined up and the thing goes back in smooth. I had read in the reviews for many OTHER BRANDS that the media converters tend to run hot, with some people relating stories of units smoking as soon as they were plugged in (requiring a replacement). Well there is none of that with this bad boy. The unit has been plugged in for over a week now and it has never felt more than lukewarm. This gives me great peace of mind as I am less worried of the possibility of a media converter sparked fire in the wood closet where the gear is housed. There is one very small thing about this unit (and most other media converters) that I think could be improved. There is no control of the status LEDs. It would be nice to have a little switch or even just a sliding panel that could be used to black out the LEDs. Currently all my gear runs disabled LEDs and it would be nice to completely eliminate the glow from inside the closet. However, this is not a major issue as the LEDs can simply be covered with a piece of electrical tape. It's just nice when the manufacturer anticipates this need and includes a nicer, less hacky, solution. Oh and why not offer a 2.5Gbps or a10Gbps unit that can auto-negotiate with a 2.5Gbps fiber SFP module? I know Bell and possibly other fiber providers use these weird speed units. I think a media converter that could support the full 2.5Gbps speed of these SFP modules would immediately become the best seller. TLDR, this has been an excellent media converter for me so far. It performs well, has a good physical feel and the heat that it puts out is far below anything that I would consider worrisome or scary. The importance of this last point cannot be understated. If your media converter will be near wood or any other flammable material, why take the risk of starting a fire and losing your home just to save a few bucks? This was my thought process and I am very happy having chosen this TFC-1000MGA unit.

I bought this for use with a GPON ONT module from Bell and it works great.

It's noisy. I had it installed to use Bell fiber internet; it works fine, but somehow it's noisy. There is a high-frequency noise coming from the case.
