Good value
I don't put these on wooden stocks. just on the synthetic ones... ine up your holes and drill...bolt it down and adjust for height.

Trifecta of bench-made craftsmanship, excellent service, and resonable pricing
I ordered the ambidextrous version and it was shipped on the same day. Two days later I gave my signature to USPS in exchange for a well-wrapped package containing all the items as expected: ambi cheek rest, two bolts of slightly different lengths, and two lock nuts. My first impression was the overall quality and finish of the Kydex cheek rest. The shape looked symmetrical, texture was consistent, and edge radius smooth and even throughout the whole perimeter. As a manufacturing engineer, it warms my cockles to see there's still someone left who cares about such detail. After watching Matt's clear and concise installation video on Youtube, I successfully installed the cheek rest on my 30-06 Ruger American rifle. The only modifications necessary were drilling the stock and shortening the bolts with a simple vice, hacksaw, and lubricant (leave 6 threads loosely sticking out for a tight fit). Fitting the bolts confirmed that the slots were square to one another and that each wing came down to the same elevation on both sides. The finished product worked just as expected, allowing me to quickly align my eye with the center of the scope with ease and comfort. Also worth mentioning is that the setup was aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, although I might paint the bolt heads black to blend in with the rifle later. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and highly recommend it to any marksman. It even came with a handwritten note from Matt, and although it was penned to my wife because we share the same account, I still found it quite hilarious. In summary, what you get is a bench-made item for a fraction of the cost, and I'll definitely be patronizing Matt's services again for current and future rifles.Note: If your drill bit does not have much taper to the edge, as in it's more flat than pointy, use a small diameter bit to make starter holes on synthetic stocks. Synthetic material has a tendency to make wide and flat drill bits slip or "walk" before penetrating. With this strategy, you should still be able to follow Matt's instructions in the video.

I'll buy it again, but needs some improvement
It's a good product overall, but not without its flaws. It did the job at getting my eye in line with the scope, and it looks decent enough. I will likely be buying more. That said, there are a handful of little things I think could be done better, however the manufacturer/seller is very responsive to feedback, so that earns an extra star.As to the issues...The nylon lock nuts in the knobs are way too tight. As another reviewer mentioned, they pretty much have to be lubed. I didn't lube them at first, and though I did break them in they still bit in so hard that they actually spun the carriage bolt enough to damage the kydex. The other issue with the knobs is that they are very thick. I bought the universal, as I am a lefty and I like to let my non-sinister friends shoot my guns. Unfortunately, the knobs stick out and poke either me or them in the face depending on which side I put them on. They should be thinner and ideally smaller diameter. Either that or the instruction should warn about this, so that those of us who do not need the full height can mount them lower. Also, the inside of the riser is shiny-smooth. That means that you really have to crank down on the knobs or it will move when it gets bumped. I plan to remedy this with a piece of bicycle tire between the riser and the stock, but again this is something that could have been taken care of by the manufacturer. Especially for the price.Which brings me to the next issue - for this price, I could easily a completely custom made kydex holster, which requires a lot more material and detail then these do. I did receive a response from the manufacturer defending his price on this, and he claims that more work goes into this than into a holster, however I am dubious. And finally, the instructions... There are no detailed printed instructions. There is a video on the manufacturer's site, which is not particularly helpful if you want a guide to refer to while you are actually doing the work. The video also leaves out a lot of little details. Such as when you tape it to the stock to locate the holes, you still need to make sure that the tops of the 2 slots are actually aligned on the stock. If you tape one side down and pull the tape tight, then it will pull that side down and your holes will not line up). Another little detail missing is that after you cut off the bolts, if you don't want them to snag on things and you want them to thread easily you'll need to grind the bevel back in to the bolt, and if you wanted black oxide you'll have to re-blue the ends that you cut.Anyway, I know this review sounds harsh, but these are minor pitfalls, and overall the product serves its purpose, so I will likely, grudgingly but it again, unless I find the same thing at a better price.

All I could ask for
If you've been reading Matthew's reviews, you already know his products are well thought out for function and machine finished to perfection. There's also the "go the extra mile" to consider. After you order, you can contact Matthew direct through the Amazon Sellers feature and ask for his free advice on custom fitting for your particular rifle. He'll also recommend the best riser option for you. He went well beyond that for me: After I received and mounted my cheek riser, I contacted him because one of the two mounting bolts was too short. He asked that I send him a photo of the riser attached to my stock. I did, and within a few minutes he replied that I had made an error on my order - that I had ordered a riser to fit a stock I don't have. He then offered to send the correct hardware at no charge, even though I was completely at fault. How often does that happen these days?

Love it
Works great. Very good quality. The grip tape didn't seem to be needed as it gripped it pretty well but I still chose to add it. Definitely isn't going anywhere.
