Platinum Ink Cartridges (Black) (SPSQ-400-1)

Nice lines and drying time work for me. I use it in a Platinum Preppy fountain pen.

Comparable to other quality manufacturers' standard black inks, this formula is a nice compromise of neutral color, acceptable opacity and reliable function (even in vintage pens), plus it's not prone to excessive feathering or bleed and is easy to clean up.Even if the ink completely dries in a pen, it usually rinses out with a brief soak and flush with warm water.For use in brush pens, this ink isn't as opaque, nor is it as water resistant once dried as the "Carbon" cartridges are.Note that if a Carbon/Pigment ink dries in a pen or brush, the cleaning process is likely to be more involved and may even require use of pen cleaning solution, an ultrasonic cleaner or even disassembly of the pen by a qualified repair professional...

I like the greyish color of this ink but wish it was a bit wetter. It is nowhere near as free-flowing as the Namiki black. This ink seems to do poorly on paper that has had contact with hand/body oils.Still a solid ink for your Platinum pens

The ink tends to dry quickly, sometimes as soon as you take a pause in the writing. It gets a bit frustrating. The cartridges have also dried half way through usage [as I wasn't using it continuously but attempted to write with it after a 2 week break - fail]. Convenient though. But probably wouldn't bother buying again.

Little overpriced but great quality! Came in original Japanese package and everything.

I've been using one box of replacements for my Preppy Platinums and they are great. It's been like 6 months and I've only used 3 of the cartridges, and that's the only pen I use at work.

I cant say I like the ink because I have never used it, but I do refill these cartridges with my other inks and i do like the cartridge. I prefer to refill these instead of a converter because I get a greater ink capacity this way. I also like how Platinum seals the cartridge with a metal ball that when inserted into the pen helps dislodge any ink that can get struck at the top of the cartridge due to air bubbles. As far as I know, these only work for Platinum fountain pens.

Fair quality black ink, slight feathering, not a true black. I would recommend noodler's black if you want something more true to the color black.
