Someone with your machine would be better suited to answer, but my wife said, according to the reviews, people have used it successfully on thickness up to 3/16 (converts to 6/32), which she has used herself. Since 8/32 converts to 1/4 inch, she feels it should work on 5/32 and 1/8 (converts to 4/32) welting. As always, it depends on the material and needle you are using. If your machine's other feet attach the same as this one, AND the length of the attachment bar is the same (she believe this one is has a 1/4 inch opening), it should work. She has a Singer Heavy Duty 4452. She hopes this information helps.

What size of cord need to use with this foot?

I used cord that was about 1/8 inch diameter.
