David Sanborn Collection: Soprano and Alto Saxophone (Artist Transcriptions)

This is an outstanding book of Sanborn's music along with some very nice nuances. I am a keyboardist, not a sax player, but if I were a soprano sax man, this would have been a bit disappointing because all but one of the pieces are alto, no transcriptions. I think it would be expected that David Sanborn being mostly an alto man would produce alto music transcriptions.As a keyboardist, I expected to transcribe the whole book to C, so this was not a big issue (though I wish there were transcriptions to C as well), and I have Sibelius 7+ to help perform the transcription process so I expected the challenge. As far as I am concerned, this is a well executed book but a bit of a deceiving title. For me a 5. I understand why some saxophonists would be disappointed, so the author should allow viewing or specify what instrument as I do below. Shipping was fast and the Book has some great Songs by David Sanborn. It contains songs like Change of the heart, Straight from the heart and Lisa. This book is great for the Alto Saxophinist getting back into the swing of things. I would recommend this book if you are look for the latest Sax Sheet Music. I hope this review helps you.

Although some of my favourites are not included, this is a terrific collection of transcripts. A real challenge!

phenomenal book.!!!! for alto mostly but the rendition of As We Speak on Soprano is incredible.

Was hoping for Concert and other transcriptions but still a decent collection and entire solos seem transcribed so that is a bonus I was not expecting!
