No, the glove is not meant for a hard ball nor it’s not meant to catch a ball that’s thrown fast.

Is it suitable for a 3-years old boy?

Yes. It’s a starter glove. It was a little bit big for my 3 year olds hands but I’m still absolutely satisfied with the purchase.
