Perfect fit for 2008 Honda Ridgeline 60k miles later no issues
This is an upgrade over the OEM Honda. I have put 60k miles on it so far and not one issue with temps rising. This was the best deal vs the big parts store. It’s built better than the OEM and has a direct fittment.

Failsafe Thermostats are good investments
I chose to buy this failsafe thermostat because in my experience as a vehicle owner and a mechanic, the failsafe mechanism can mean the difference between saving your engine and total complete failure. If a thermostat fails to open, the heat builds up pressure. Many car manufacturers use the cheapest parts they can unless the vehicle is high end. When pressure builds up due to heat in a cooling system, that pressure has to go somewhere. With older cars and high mileage engines, that pressure will sometimes relieve itself through the head gasket, IF the original equipment thermostat is stuck closed and the radiator pressure cap fails to relieve pressure above it's set limit. Gaskets get old, and when the environmental conditions at the mating surface between the head and the block are under constant heat load from the engine burning fuel, and coolant passing through the system, this often creates a weak point. In my experience a failsafe thermostat sticks in the open position when, thus allowing your car to keep it's cool, and save you from blowing a head gasket or another component in the engine. Think of it as cheap insurance! Highly recommended.

Worked fine for 2011 pilot
Looked different, but has been in my vehicle for awhile now. Seems to work just fine for 2011 honda pilot

fit my 2003 Honda Pilot
This thermostat fit my wife's 2003 Honda Pilot perfectly. Hope it never overheats, but the failsafe mechanism should hopefully help prevent that from being as big of an issue.

failed open in normal operation, 4 months.
Temperature control in my 2011 Ridgeline was rock steady for 4 months. Then the "failsafe" mechanism tripped when truck was parked in the garage not even running, having been parked after an hour highway drive. In the photo you can see the "fail-safe" mechanism is caught on one side, leaving the thermostat partially open. This is the way it's supposed to work when the engine overheats, but no such condition existed at the time: not low on coolant, and temperature while running had been normal. The temperature of the coolant must have risen just enough when circulation stopped to trip the "fail safe". This "false" response is a problem. Replaced the "Fail-Safe" with a regular thermostat and no more problems.

One of the best thermostats out there
Just installed on my 2005 Honda Accord V6 EX and I can say I’m impressed with the build quality. Much stronger and beefier than the OEM thermostat. The best part is their warranty and the fail safe feature. In the event your thermostat does fail it will always fail in the open position and more than likely you’ll get a replacement for free.
