Are the shafts plastic??

They are plastic shafts. Harrow Speedline's t be exact: http://www.harrowsdarts.com/catalog/shafts/speedline-black/. If you would like something more robust for shafts the Harrows Keramic's work well with the Wolfram's.

Are these darts called the wolfram are the rams?

The Wolfram darts do have a picture of a ram on them. The word Wolfram is from the mineral Wolframite ( German origin) which contains a high level of tungsten and so do these darts and I believe that is why Harrows refers to them as Wolframs but the do have a ram on them. I don’t know why.
