what if I do not use the carbon filters on a weekly basis? do I still have to replace every 4 months even when I do not use them?

has anyone opened up a filter? was the carbon in a sheet like you find in other air filters or a loose powder?

I haven’t opened a packet but it does seem like loose granules, not really powder. I have two large containers in which I store greens & it has definitely extended their shelf life. I have been using this prodect for over 2 years and wouldn’t be without it.

Are these packs jacketed in breathable material or solid material?

Yes, I believe the jackets are breathable. It feels like there is a material inside the jacket that is similar to charcoal. I think they work great for about three months. I use the filters to avoid using thin plastic bags in my refrigerator
