This works! Not tried on the stairs yet. looks a good kit and will be very easy to set up.
Sceptical, of course, after trying others and usual claims. However, we have tested this machine on various carpet thicknesses and recommend this but qualify that below. This is hard work on the toughest setting, for us old ones, stupid enough to get another puppy! Tried to dry out patches and use pads but even so the house was turning into a sewage works. Thought long and hard about this investment our much cheaper 'V' machine failing pretty rapidly as it leaked, a very common fault it seems. This Bessill machine fills with hand hot water, ie. not nee boiling but seemed fine with pretty hot water from our combi tap. Just made drying pretty fast. If you use express, it is fine for carpets or rugs not looking soiled but more stale. The strongest setting gets deep down and really does remove a lot of soiling. However, it is all in the technique of using the machine to effect and that took both of us a while to conquer. when to pull the trigger for extra water and how to dry it off as much a possible. We squired going forward and pulled back to dry off. On a hot day in September, the express washed carpet was dry in under half an hour. The soaked and repeatedly gone over highest setting was still slightly damp the next day. The thing is that she stains will not budge and if the machine has not cleaned the rug or carpet, after pre-spraying and using the maximum setting then it will not clean just through repetition. Some rugs that had never been shampooed, like the one passed on to us about 35 years ago by my brother, good quality wool, was a revolution. The colours jumped ut and it was only treated fairly quickly. The pet stained carpets just did not respond but had been dried off a bit and sprayed with Extreme. Somehow, they stubbornly stayed as they were.Note that if a carpet is damp to the feel after repeat passes, it could take over 24 hours to clean if thick and wool. I would never attempt more that an express clean on a day that is average summer or winter.Damp carpet is not a smell to make a home seem welcoming. But, our home is smelling pretty good now. We are sensitive but even the stubbornly stained areas were fresh smelling. It is hard work. No getting away from that. However, this machine did our whole house, most of which was not that bad but definitely had had a puppy attack now and then, and we ended up very pleasantly surprised and happy. The puppy has hardly wet the carpet at all so it seemed to cure that. (Does not bark to go out and just stands by a door then will run away and do a wee of she is desperate. We have antique rugs, modern wood quality wool ones as well as some cheaper ones. All did very well with this machine. It did not use up water and shampoo at a huge rate at all and the brush really did its job with thrash out the dirt. Pre-vacuumed all the areas treated, just before shampooing and yet it was quite surprising how much dirt came up.Cleaning the brushes and sides of the working area first took us a while to work out the techinique but then it was a doddle to scrape the brushes and force the same tool to retrieve wet hair and fluff. All in all, if you despair at first, you will quickly work out the best way to treat each area and I am sure that you will be pleased. The three little bottles of odour removers and pre-treaat were quite good, the main recommend cleaner perfectly adequate and we bought the special pet odour pre treat but have loads left.

Fantastic bit of kit
So we've got big rugs and carpeted stairs. We have 3 dogs and my partner refuses to wear slippers indoors so wears his trainers and treads all matter of stuff from outside - inside. The dogs are cleaner than him!Anyway.. I googled best at home carpet cleaner and it actually sent me to the pet equivalent of this one which is an extra £100 and apart from afew extra attachments isn't much different. I watched a few videos of different folks giving reviews and using the machine. And for my budget I chose this one over the pet model purely on price and this one comes with a longer hose attachment. I found it super easy to put together and use.. Abit awkward transporting & using up the stairs (we have a long steep staircase) but doable. Personally I think the hose could be longer it's meant to be 8ft... More like 6ft but heyhoo. It did leak a tad with the hose attachment on but I think I didn't clip it in properly first time round. Only piddled a mugful. Which I just sucked up after finishing the stairs.Really easy to clean and remove dog hair etc from brisle head and attachments. It comes with 3 different sample bottles of cleaner.I've attached before & after pics.. the rug has come up like new.. honestly can't believe it! Well chuffed! The stairs... God only knows what got tipped up them but first go removed a lot of it but still visible. All this was done on the max deep clean setting. Ive sinced soaked and lightly brushed the stairs stains then gave it another go with machine... Huge difference. I left the product on maybe 10mins whilst I drank a cup of coffee then restarted and stains have gone so I do highly recommend this machine. Any tough stains that are stubborn I'd suggest soaking for a few mins then restart. The stairs remained damp for longer - I think due to the handheld attachment. Whereas the rugs/carpet dried really quickly and super powerful suction through the main hoover but the hose attachment didn't seem quite as powerful.Hope this was helpful.
