Does medicare cover the cost for this

James, We have not yet gotten direct medicare approval for the Stair Assist Cane. However we are aware of several people who have had a prescription written by their doctor specifically for the Stair Assist Cane as well as the Rock Steady Cane and Medicare and Medicaid have both paid for them.

Earlier comments said it was not stable. Has this been improved?

I found it to be very stable (easily adjustable for different stair heights)

What is the lowest height from a stair step to the hand bar?

The lowest height for the lower handle is 32 inches. However this is only effective if the stair height from on step to the next is 5 inches or less. The normal step height is 7 inches in which case the height when properly adjusted would be 34 inches at its minimum position. For a normal step height if 7 inches the adjustment range is 34 inches to 37 1/5 inches in 1/2 inch increments.

Can it be adusted for use on a level surface? i want to use it for cosplay with a person who has no mobility issues. thank you

No this is a stair climbing cane only, excellent for going up or down stairs even good to assist with stepping off a curb. But can not be se for a level surface, you will need a regular cane for a level surface.
