Seagate 500GB SATA Laptop Hard Disk

I bought this hard disc 2 times earlier I got for 2000 around 6 months ago.. I purchased a cheap hard disc sata enclosure Chinese and it became an external hard disc I used it for keeping my data films music etc..I also had 1 tb etc but they are branded and purchased as directly 1tb external.available ...I found it has worked nice for a while so I purchased another this time I got it very cheap for 1500..im gonna install this in my TV box with expandable memory for gaming and direct downloads... Remember guys it's hit or miss it dosent have warranty you are getting a 500 gb device in 1500 its very reasonable but if you are OK with slight risk then go for it but its true to if you using with care these things usually dosent malfunction .. No doubt its value for money and what else one can ask in 1500.... If you want to install in your old laptop or make a back up external hard disc for media files then go for it..

I ordered the same hard disk twice using Amazon. First time I ordered a Seagate Momentus from a different vendor and got a corrupt drive, then a Momentus Thin (for a change since it’s compatible anyway) and got a used, corrupt Momentus. Each time I ordered I got a used corrupt drive since the first thing I did was ran it on my linux system via an adapter over badblocks program which I’ve been using to test hard disks for years. On contacting Seagate, they told me the 500 GB range is out of production so vendors may send used products. Finally, I saw this new item listing on Amazon thro’ a different reseller and contacted the reseller first using their contact page with a query whether they would be sending me a new piece. They assured me, so I went ahead and placed the order. Upon arrival, I found this looked new (unlike the older ones) but this said Video 2.5 HDD as opposed to a Momentus (which is what is show in the product listing). Nevertheless, it looked new compared to all the hard drives that I got before so I went ahead and tested the drive with badblocks. After 6 hours of testing, it gave me a clean report saying that the drive has no bad sectors for both read/write operations. I went ahead and installed it on my laptop which now works smoothly. Happy to see that finally I got a new working piece. Thank you!

Got corrupted without much use

It is the best hdd available at this low price for laptop. My old laptop's hdd was damaged (or more precisely was having bad sectors) but after installing this hdd my laptop is working fine now. It's writing and reading speed is not so good but it's fine for normal or office users.

this is what u get-5400 rpm seagate st-500lt012 hdd.otherwise specs are same.i bought it from ANKITA INFOSYS.however delivery was very prompt.use a DELL STUDIO 1555 and the product is fit for it.also the packaging is very cheap and no box,manual or warranty card is given.however it must be mentioned that the price is right for the product recieved.it is reqd to update the page.hdd is nice and works perfectly.i m quite satisfied.

I installed it on my brother old age Lenovo G570 Laptop and as of now it works fine. The hard drive is very easy to install on the laptop but the only downside is that it's out of warranty item, I registered it on the seagate website, to my dismay its already out of warranty. Hope it goes well in future

I had a windows laptop that was gathering dust in a corner somewhere. Unfortunately, the hard disk could not withstand it. So I had to get a new HD that was not too costly. After seeing all the reviews, I went for this one as it was cheap and I did not need 1TB because I rarely open my windows laptop.This hard disk came in a small package and I was surprised that there was no protection whatsoever. This is not what Amazon usually does. There were no issues with the HD though.Installation is easy. I had a Lenovo g500s which supports SATA HDs so I did not face any problem. Just remove all the nuts and screws, replace the HD, and you are done.So far the performance has been okay. Let's see how long it can survive.

This is a amazing product. Do not listen to these other guys who bad mouth this product. It is a great product for such an amazing price. Don't hesitate buying it. The product's quality depends on the buyer and the city your purchasing from.
