Great for me
For me, walking on established paths over park and woodland, with so-far limited use, 'about 30 miles or so' and as yet have not been worn in wet conditions. These boots are extremely comfortable, are very lightweight, appear to be well made and are a good fit, size 10 with a moderately wide foot and for me the best fit was obtained with a slightly heavier sock that I would normally wear. However I would imagine that if you are someone who walks off the beaten track and over rough ground the thickness of the sole on these boots would not provide enough mechanical insulation between the middle of the sole of your foot and the ground, leading to perhaps more surface feedback than would be desired. Although as I have said for my situation at this point in time they seem ideal, I will have to see how durable and waterproof they are with the passage of time.1st April 2018Well I am four months into wearing these boots and for me I am very pleased by their performance. The boots do not get hard use but they do get constant use as they are on my feet for a large part of the day, so it is a war of attrition and to date they are holding up very well and are still waterproof, soles and heels showing little wear and uppers are in good condition. The only treatment that I give them is to bang off the mud on the soles and brush the uppers with a stiff yard brush and clean water. This is my personal experience thus far I hope you find it useful.

Best boots I've ever bought.
I go through so many walking boots walking my dog and had gotten so frustrated with poor quality and false claims. I asked an outward bound expert this week for a recommendation and he said you can't go wrong with North Face. He's not wrong. Received these boots today after ordering them yesterday with standard delivery. They are higher quality and very well made. Slightly taller than a normal boot, but that suits my weak ankles. Put them on to take the dog out and they are slightly bigger than your normal shoe size, but that means you can wear a walking sock without feeling cramped with room left for a wiggle. First on they felt very sturdy and I thought they would take some breaking in and expected blisters. 30 mins into my walk they softened up and fit like a glove. They have a very comfy ride as per the specifications of being Ortho quality.I have a propensity for rolling my ankles over the smallest pebble and twig, however not in these boots. They kept my ankles in check over wet and muddy ground and the grip was brilliant.Waterproof. They Are actually waterproof as it says on the tin. First pair of walking boots I have bought in a long time that actually live up to its billing.I enjoyed walking in the boots for the first time so much I stayed out an extra 30 mins, much to the dogs delight. 1 1/2 hours into wearing these boots and I'm so impressed. For the price I paid £109 they are worth every boot I've bought under £100 for the last 10 years.

back to berghaus
been a berghaus fan for years, thought i'd have a change,so my lovely wife got me these, they were on the large size for a start, but 2 pairs of thick socks sorted that, anyway, went to put my boots on for the 4th time since getting them only to notice the rubber coming away from the leather, they are comfy, but in summing up at £109 i expected at least a years wear out of them!!!!.....sent back no fuss for a full refund, back to berghaus for me.

Soles wear quickly, don't like lacing, don't suit me like they used to.
For a few years I've found that TNF boots have really suited my feet, but not these. I walk dogs every day. As with other pairs they've only lasted twelve months before the soles wore out. I've had horrible plantar fasciitis this year and I gradually worked out that these boots were the culprit... But, loathe to blame an expensive pair of boots I battled on. Finally I binned them and returned to a brand I've worn before and I can practically hear my heel saying hallelujah!Depressingly I began to suspect the boots when I lashed out on a new pair of TNF shoes which suddenly made things doubly bad. They are languishing in the cupboard, practically unworn. I wonder if TNF have changed their lasts. Maybe just my feet. The lacing layout on these boots makes them a chore to get on and off too.

Solid pair of boots for a respectable price.
Somewhat premature review given the purpose of the boots however, the look and feel of them are great! Yet to do any serious mileage (hence the premature review) but they are holding their own against the Cornish countryside/woodland areas and breaking in nicely without breaking my feet, no rubbing or blistering to speak of.Boots are true to size, I’m a 10 in everything I’ve worn in recent years, kept to a 10 in the boots and they feel comfortable with ‘standard’ medium thickness shin high socks with no major sweating to speak of. There is also wriggle room for thicker hiking socks should they be required for colder climates further North.Traction feels good, slight slipping when walking though exceedingly mushy areas thanks to Autumnal leaf fall which to me is expected of any footwear given the surface.Packaging was as expected, boots were suitably boxed and wrapped with tissue paper to avoid contact/scuffing.My only concern is the potential for the laces to break when using the metal eyes to lace the boots around the ankle, whilst this has not yet happened, I suspect it will before long as I like my footwear relatively tight therefor exert too much force on the laces. That aside, these are a solid pair of boots thus far, the price is very reasonable and I look forward to getting outside in the winter months with no concerns about cold/uncomfortable feet.

a lot of boot for your money
Had a pair of these for about 18 months and just replaced them.I have worn them pretty much every day and used them for work and free time. These are comfortable straight out of the box with great grip in the wet on rough ground and snow and ice.I have on occasion worn these for 24 hours straight through at work and my feet have still felt good (which is more that could be said for the rest of me).Great fit great price to be honest i would recommend
