Good grammar and very good for learning
Was a bit sceptical about this book as it’s a children’s book but as I am learning French it’s perfect. Good stories which are very funny and the grammar is good.

Great book for learning French
My son, who is in year 8 at school, started reading this book. It's quite hard for him as he has to look up every other word, but he is getting better and better as he recognises more words and sentence structures. Besides, it is encouraging to read what is an authentic French literature, popular with kids in France and also is a set of amusing stories about schoolchildren.

A complete delight
The series of Petit Nicolas books are a joy, Written in the 1950s, they are well known to generations of French schoolchildren and are funny and give a nostalgic view of French childhood. Ideal for Intermediate rather than beginning students of French.

Enjoyable, entertaining easy to read French.
Amusing little episodes , seen through the eyes of a child. It helps if ,like me, you have a childish sense of humour. I really enjoyed it.

Brushing up on French Language
My limited French still gets the humour in these simple stories of school and home life. Maybe dated but chucklesome with the aid of an e-dictionary for any new vocabulary. His copins at school who are always eating, teacher's chouchou, giving people coupes de poing sur le nez crop up in each story and reinforce phrases. I will probably read all of the books and be a genius in this form of the French Language which might not work for business situations.

Loved this kid
I first read this when I was learning French in Paris 30 years ago. I got totally hooked and read all the books I could find in the series. My man has just started learning French so I got it for him, and he's really enjoying it.

Easy, light-hearted reading.
I use this book for a group of adults who have a reasonable basic knowledge of French and who want something that's light, easy to read, amusing and will keep their French language going. You know the old saying, "Use it or lose it!"

Very funny, beautifully written and illustrated
It's a classic, and your French doesn't have to be all that good to read it. The only English translation we've seen did not give the unique, quirky flavour of the text which is what makes it so funny. The wonderful Sempé illustrations come over surprisingly well on the Kindle PaperWhite, so altogether a good experience. Buy it and giggle!
