GoPro KARMA Drone with Harness for HERO5 Camera - Black/White

There are many videos online telling you how bad this drone is but if possible only look at those uploaded in the last three months rather than when they used to fall out of the sky. Make your own mind up based on your own research.I have been keeping an eye on the price and once it got down to a price I thought was reasonable for a no longer manufactured drone I went for it also of course bearing in mind all the restrictions on where you can actually fly it. Do a search on "dronesafe uk" for more details.Arrived all sealed as I would expect but no wrist straps for controller or Karma Grip. Also the charger was not wrapped in shiny plastic and no wrist band (all of these can be seen in the many unboxing videos on YouTube).Anyway, the main components seemed factory fresh and I ordered some third party wristbands Hand Strap [5-Pack] Lanyard with Quick-Release for Camera & Cell Phone - Straps Around Your Wrist - By Premium Accessories Brand Nordic Flash™ - 1 Year WarrantyI already have a working Hero 5 (you can also use a Hero 6) and with that you have everything you need (I also went for £5M of Liability cover for £20.00 a year).Of course along with a legal location to fly you also need good weather (no wind and good visibility).Thus I have only flown it once for eleven minutes (indicated 5 mins left) and other than it changed the video mode to 1080/50 (so check the screen before you take off) but of course the adrenaline was flowing as I have never flown a drone before.I thought my results were good and I went for a full manual landing as the drone has no sensors to avoid objects and know the exact level of the ground.The controller joysticks have no markings and I noted an American website did a set of labels to identify them but alas I got an email the next day saying out of stock and would not be producing anymore :(Thus I made some for my one with 6mm wide dymo tape. I am sure when you are more used to it labels on the joysticks will no longer be necessary.Why did I go for this over a DJI?1. Wanted a solution which did not need a controller and a smartphone (android app feedback is not very good) Note: I now see they also have models with built in colour screens.2. Physically larger drone as easier to see in the sky (drone must always be in visual site by operator or your spotter).3. Used to GoPro cameras over the years mainly used scuba diving but now in the sky :)4. Price but spare batteries (75Wh) are quite expensive.Winds over 20mph expected for next few days so no flying :(Lastly, the Karma Grip.Not the best but not bad.It keeps the camera screen on and the grip also keeps the camera charging so it is possible to record for about two hours non stop (if your memory card is big enough).When attached to the Karma Case (Karma Coffin as it is called by some) it is very difficult to operate the grip controls as they are hard against your body.It does however do a good job as a stabiliser but not worth the £300.00 as a separate purchase.Audio with the Hero 5 in the Karma Grip is not too bad except in a quiet location where the gimbal noise becomes more notable.In the drone you only get silence from the audio tracks, I was hoping to listening to the propellers.Lastly, drone propellers are potentially very dangerous (described as rotating knives) so keep well away from them and always check them for condition before every flight.

Looks great first flight took off then it lost connection and shot off and disappeared in to the sea ! Gone forever ! HelpSeems a common problem ! Losing signal and crashing ! Waste of money

Real value for money as the Karma grip gimbal is also included. I've had some fun with this drone, just waiting to take it on holiday to Tokyo to really test its capability. But from my current usage the drone handles very well, the only downsides I'd say is that the battery life does drain quicker than expected, and when travelling with other camera equipment, the size of this drone is not very convenient. But still a value for money product if you already have a GoPro

Great drone, fly's very easy and camera gimbal is so smooth. Amazing value for money as this this makes more use of my GoPro camera with the grip included in the deal.

The GPS was faulty, which led to falling and not landing safely, the fans were easy to break, just very fragile and not reliable. Not worth the price to pay for such a product

Fantastic product and extremely well thought out. The arial photography is amazing, it's just a shame that spare batteries for Karma are not readily available!!

shame it has been discontinued, the drone and the associated add ons in the bag are great fun and really practical! the gimble is really cool to use, can see why it alone is valued at 300! the drone with my hero 7 black, looked movie quality!
