In this classic conspiracy thriller, screen icon Robert Redford (Tell Them Willie Boy is Here, The Sting, All the President’s Men, Indecent Proposal) stars as CIA Agent Joe Turner. Code name: Condor. When his entire office is massacred, Turner goes on the run from his enemies…and his so-called allies. After reporting the murders to his superiors, the organization wants to bring Condor in—but somebody is trying to take him out. In his frantic hunt for answers, and in a desperate race for his life, Turner abducts photographer Kathy Hale (Faye Dunaway, The Thomas Crown Affair, Eyes of Laura Mars), eventually seducing her into helping him. Every twist leads Condor to the end of his nerves…and will take you to the edge of your seat. And as he zeroes in on the staggering truth, he discovers there are some secrets people would kill to keep. Masterfully directed by Sydney Pollack (Jeremiah Johnson, Tootsie, Out of Africa, Havana) and also starring Cliff Robertson (Charly), John Houseman (The Paper Chase) and the icy Max von Sydow (Needful Things), 3 Days of the Condor endures as one of Hollywood’s finest tales of political paranoia.Special Features:DISC 1 (4KUHD):• Brand New 2023 HDR/Dolby Vision Master – From a 2023 4K Scan of the Original Camera Negative• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historians Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson• Audio Commentary by Director Sydney Pollack• 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Lossless Audio• Triple-Layered UHD100 Disc• Optional English SubtitlesDISC 2 (BLU-RAY):• Brand New 2023 HD Master – From a 2023 4K Scan of the Original Camera Negative• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historians Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson• Audio Commentary by Director Sydney Pollack• Something About Sydney Pollack: 2004 Documentary (59:05)• More About the Condor: 2003 Featurette (24:56)• Theatrical Trailers• 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Lossless Audio• Dual-Layered BD50 Disc• Optional English Subtitles

Perfect!
The film has already been reviewed in various places, so I will just say that it is a superb mystery with a disturbing mood, and that I love this film.I would like to say a few words about the rest of the review, especially from a "4K UHD" point of view. The restoration is perfect. There is no shaking, no debris, no scratches. The screen is well-proportioned, wonderfully clean and stable throughout the entire film.Even the wet textures feel organic and alive. The pouring rain scene at the beginning of the film is particularly memorable and beautiful. Colours are also pleasing, with natural tones reproduced effortlessly from dark to light. Grains appear fine and even, with a very pleasing film reproduction. Resolution is excellent, with wrinkles at the corners of Redford's eyes and individual strands of blonde hair showing well. Out-of-focus bokeh is also natural. You can even see the rain bouncing off the roof of the car. I am very satisfied - the KINO LORBER has done a good job. I only have one complaint. The only complaint I have is that there is no resume function. (The resume function means that once you press the stop button during playback and remove the disc, the next time you load the disc and press the play button, it will play from where you left off.) Please improve this next time.Thank you.

One of the greatest films of the 70's decade. Great work by Sidney Pollack, Robert Redford and the rest of a great cast.
Hollywood produced some of the best social-commentary movies during the 70's. This movie is a fine example of that. The performances are great, Robert Redford does a very convincing job on his roll. Max von Sydow is excellent as usual and so are Faye Dunaway and Clift Robertson. The pacing and direction of the movie is also brilliant thanks to a great job by the late Sidney Pollack. He would eventually get the best director Academy Award for his film Out Of Africa. I liked Pollack's style as a director. He's done some of my favorite movies like They Shoot Horses, Don't they?, The Firm, Jeremiah Johnson and Tootsie. To me this movie belongs with some of the great movies form that era. Movies that had more grit, more substance and top-notch acting. I would paint Three Days Of The Condor in the same brush as movies like, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, The Day of the Jackal, The Eyes of Laura Mars, Marathon Man, All The President's Men, Network, The Godfather (1 and 2), One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest, The French Connection, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse now, etc. The seventies was the decade when Hollywood had something to say. People were attracted to the theaters to be engaged in a story that spoke about our society. These days it's all about CG, Superheroes and remakes. Seldom do we get to witness movies with some meat like the Three Days Of the Condor.I recommend this film (as well as all the ones I mentioned here) very highly if your idea of entertainment requires some reflection afterwards. This movie has been one of my favorite ever since I first saw it back when it first came out. The performances are so good that it holds up brilliantly today.

Time may be showing, but still a fun thriller
I came to Three Days of the Condor later in life and far removed fro the timeframe for this classic Robert Redford film. But it’s still a fun thriller and if you’re into that genre, one you should watch. Yes, age is showing here - not Redford, but the timeframe of the film. Without question, we as a society are far removed from what now seems so simple in the world of spies. But at the time it was the height of technology and intrigue. That lends itself to a fun look back - or new way of seeing how far we’ve come. The initial set up of the film is my favorite part and I’ll watch it a few times. Redford and his fellow researchers are working in a nondescript building when some are gunned down... and I’ll leave it there. Now with Redford one the run he’s got to figure out who to trust... takes a woman hostage... starts to trust her... You get it. In some ways the ending is unsatisfying due to the age, so I’ll often watch so far, the start again another time. In other ways it’s still a good thriller and I’ll watch all the way through. Redford is... well, Redford. Excellent. In the end, Three Days of the Condor is a good, solid movie, and well set in its time. For a modern audience it might not be as fast moving or as deep and urgent. The technology is ancient - and that’s in my lifetime so hard to call it that. But it’s a good movie and one you should see if you’re a film fan.

Totally Engaging and Chilling
"You can take a walk, but how far if they don't print it?""They'll print it.""How do you know?"Those three lines are the most chilling from this film, and in the context of spy films, none are more chilling than perhaps Control's line to Leamus in "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold," when he said, "What we have in mind for Mundt is rather unorthodox..."Right here you've got a stupendous look into the the real workings of the CIA's multi-layered puzzle-making factory and all the trouble they can stir up, some very sublty places pieces of tradecraft throughout the film that are wonderful for their low-key blandness - the truest hallmark of real spycraft, the astonishing Faye Dunaway being her Runaway with Dunaway Best and Beautiful and sharing a chemistry with Redford that's truly moving and beautiful - especially in the moments they share the morning together preparing coffee. Wow. Anyone who's had THAT first date with a past lover knows this scene very well, and the feelings that come with it. Max V.S. is stellar as the calculating Joubert, and Cliff Robertson plays his Company Man role past the hilt.A very solid high protein red-meat spy thriller. Intelligent, doesn't pander, retains some grace throughout its very ugly topics and subjects, and handles everything as only a movie from the greatest cinema decade could: The 1970s.There will never be another decade for film like that one.Enjoy.
