Low-quality chinese made.
Same stuff I see a lot. Poor quality for a rock-bottom price. This is unfortunately all too common with most if not all Chinese made stuff. It's a fairly simple product. It has, on one end, a pusher like on a pen. This pushes an expanding crown "grabber", for lack of a better term, which then contracts on the watch crown when you allow the spring-loaded grabber to retreat back into the barrel of the device. It's a simple device. But, this one is badly made so its difficult to push inward. When you're done and release the pusher, it goes back into the barrel too far and gets stuck so you can't use it again unless you bang it on a sharp object. I may put a little grease inside the barrel and see if that helps, but it just isn't well made.

Solves a winding problem
I have a couple of mechanical watches that I don't use much because they are hard to wind. This tool easily grabs crowns from about 3.5 mm to 6 mm, and does not appear to leave scratches, although I am very careful when grasping the crown of my vintage Omega "pie-pan".I took two stars off because the tool arrived with the plunger sticking out at an odd angle, and dragging/stiff when pressed... turns out that the shaft connecting the plunger to the jaws was cross threaded, and only screwed into the jaws about 3/4 of a turn... with a little effort everything is ok now, but I shouldn't have to repair a brand new tool!

Works
I wish these people stop drinking the "made in China kool-aid" ... nothing is made in the US and if it was we'd equally suck at it. I keep hearing about cheap Chinese made. There is nothing wrong with this product... but then again I am an engineer, so I know better.

Doesn't fit a deep winder.
My watch has a little collar around the wind stem. There isn't enough room to place the winder on the stem. I can gently hold the winder on the stem and get it wound but that's not easy to do. Not the winder's fault, just the way the watch is made.

Great Tool!
Using this on my Tag Heuer Carerra Calibre 5. Almost a necessity for any automatic winding watch with a manual winder. Since my watch only has a 36 hour power reserve, I use this every now and then when I'm not wearing the watch to make sure I'm not losing time! The "gator" grip carefully grabs the crown and easily turns the crown without destroying my fingers. I was afraid of scratching, but after many times using this tool, there are no scratches on my watch!
